It was a great game - my first real online shooter. Getting off that damn beach, shot while parachuting in to Market Garden, dogfighting over the Coral Sea, endless days in The Battle of The Bulge.

So much fun was had. Until I wanted to get into a plane, then the asswads blow it up.

no way man CoD 1 was the best! the best maps, best weapons, best feel. At the end of that game I watched band of brothers and then finished the last mission and I cried man. I cried. It was when i truly for the first time understood the vastness of WWII.

So many fond memories. Flying a plane so low that when you bank you could clip infantry and kill them. Before the first patch if you placed a mine on a vehicle it sank the vehicle until the mine was at ground level. Laying a dozen guys on the wings of a bomber with BARs and watch the first German pilot spaz out when the wings opened fire.

I like both games to an extent, and not to degrade the Call of Duty franchise... but it would pretty much be the same thing.

It's more than likely that DICE will make some sort of Battlefield 1942 with the Frostbite 2 engine because they fucked over PS3 and PC players.

CoD 2 was very, very different from even CoD 4. The pace of the fighting, mostly due to lack of sprint and single/bolt action rifles, is the largest part. It was also extremely basic in comparison. Depending on what country you were, you got a choice of ~5 guns. There were no perks, kill streaks, attachments, etc. World at War was a WWII game, but nothing like CoD 2.

Okay then, on Mac the game requires Mac OS X 10.2.8 or later, 700 Mhz PowerPC (I bet you have a multi-core Intel), still 32 MB of vram.

Desert Combat > all games ever frankly. I have yet to have a gaming experience that can match the fun I had with it.

In fact, I am going to dig out my old BF1942 CD to play it. Now, I hope I can find the correct patches and DC files somewhere.

BF1942 was basically the sole reason why I begged my dad for months to get a new computer to replace our shitty Windows ME PC when I was in middle school. My friends both had BF1942 and it was one of the greatest games I ever saw. My dad finally buckled and bought a VPR Matrix from Best Buy and I must have bought BF1942 shortly after that. I still have the discs somewhere around here.

What a glorious day that was.
