I've tried techniques that force them to contradict themselves instead of providing them with our logic. It's a bit more effective.

Cognitive dissonance is like a psychic bat to the face.

BAT TO THE FACE

You can deploy the cognitive dissonance like pokemon, too.

I CHOOSE YOU, *"If God created the universe, where did God come from?".*

If you say a big bang created the universe, what created the big bang?

The difference is we can admit we don't know instead of making shit up to make us feel better.

You make up a plate full of delicious Bacon to feel better.

Damn straight. Especially after following a kosher diet for as long as I did. Bacon > religion.

Same thing that created God.

The big bang didn't create the universe.

Its just an explanation of a previous state it must have had, to produce the behavior we observe today.

Spontaneous? Can nothingness even exist? If time is looped, later event may cause earlier events. Does the causality work in such extreme situations? Is our universe just one in a sea of universes? Are universes cyclic? M theory.

There are many possible explanations, but we don't know yet, and don't even claim to know. We can just observe that there was a big bang.

If we ever find out that something caused big bang, religions can just claim that God caused that something. This won't change no matter how far we go.

The big bang created the big bang

We don't know, but we know that a Big Bang explains the shape and frequency distribution of the Cosmic Microwave Background Radiation very well.

you can also use the logic that if god didnt require a creator, why does the universe

I've tried that. They usually catch on and go for the "faith" or "mysterious ways" out.

They say that but only the most obtuse don't continue to think about it and try and rationalize it.

I take it this illustrates both sides of the argument?

I'm trying to pinpoint what Micheal is saying 'no' to. I think it's when Lucile asks him to get Oscar to give her some "Afternoon Delight" by sticking it in her "Brownie".

Correct episode, but this is his answer to Lucille asking him to move in with her, after Oscar goes on his pilgrimage. I re-watched it several times and couldn't stop laughing.

Why are you talking to these people. Just have brochures made up that say "You're a fucking idiot". Exchange brochures with these people and move on with your life.

That works well until it's time to vote.

Their response to logic or our response to their mess?

[–]beanjeans 1 point2 points ago

Their"""

Don't forget to use proper grammar when addressing matters of logic! :)
