Firstly, my response certainly was not a battle cry, as you say, but a retreating horn. I had no intention of carrying on this debate, if it can even be called such. But still you bait me with your ignorant replies, and I cannot resist.

I used "child" instead of "troll" to make the distinction between someone who spouts nonsensical information as facts and believes they are correct and someone who intentionally proliferates controversial opinions to get a rise out of people for the "lulz." Given the fact that you have made several responses that yielded no "lulz," I concluded that you must actually believe yourself to be correct and not intentionally spreading false information.

I am no expert on the physics of fluid behavior, and I am sure you are not either, so neither of us actually has any solid information with which to debate. You hide behind the blanket statement of a "rational" argument, but all you have provided is your non-expert speculation. The two points you illustrated are as follows:

1. There appears to be too much fluid to fit in the glass.

2. The trajectory of the liquid should be an arc because of the force required to propel the liquid out of the glass.

I have no way to definitively argue for or against your first point, since I can neither judge the volume of the glass nor the volume of the split liquid. I can, however, point out that you also have no information other than visual confirmation and basic assumption.

As for your second point, I respond by pointing out that while you are correct that a steam of water under constant force will form an arc, such as the water from a drinking fountain, the liquid in the picture was only subjected to a single jolt. Without a constant applied force, only the initial spill will form an arc, as you can see at the front of the stream. The rest of the water is carried out by the quickly diminishing momentum, causing it to make a straighter line instead of an arc. I suggest that before you claim facts with your Art Degree physics that you actually test out your own theories.

I actually went to the kitchen, filled up a glass, and flung the water of the glass to see the results. What I saw confirmed my explanation and refuted yours. So please, if you want to make insipid accusations of another person's "rational argument," first make sure yours is based in fact and not fantasy. QED.
