The title of a TIL post will usually be the same text, word-for-word, as used in the Wiki article. So linking to the article allows you to see that there is a source, but you won't necessarily learn anything additional by reading just the paragraph in question.
Good Redditors will link to the correct section of the page.
Wikipedia is better for this than most sites, because it allows linking to sections of the page in the first place. Other sources, eg a PDF of an academic paper, or a video, might not support this function.
Even if you do want to find the paragraph in question, and it's not linked...Ctrl+F is your friend.
