I have no doubts that once space exploration becomes the equivalent of driving a car down the highway that we will carry our stupid petty infighting into the cosmos just as we always have.

I have doubt that space exploration will ever be that common or easy.

Interesting detail about the photo: the Earth is on its side. The north pole is towards the lower right of earth's disc and that continental feature you see is West Africa. It's entirely in the eye of the beholder whether this picture should be turned 120 deg counter-clockwise or not. I think this is the way the astronaut saw the scene through the image finder.

I want to believe that I will get to see Earth from an outside perspective like this but I fear my government will kill us all first.

This is why all astronauts leave their jobs to do something else, right?
