I'm on my way to getting my degree in physics and I had about the same reaction. I was furious though, starting going over an elaborate reply in my head before realizing I don't have them as friends on fb. This was immediately followed by shame for the off chance Stephen saw this. I'm now over mad and tearing up as I write. How can anyone be so oblivious to conceive science has done nothing for humanity and it's a waste of time. They aren't in economics because because their passion for understanding isn't fulfilled by the market but by the universe! People like Hawkings, Einstein, Maxwell, Kaku, Greene, Tyson go into science because it almost divinely draws them to it! Fuck this is pissing me off, why cant they understand the importance of the understanding of space/time/universe?
