Life is hard for Santa's Elves. Their ancestors once ruled the world. The Elves were feared by all of man. Their weapons were forged from metal from the heavens, which once was their home.

They came from a place far away, galaxies away. They came to earth seeking refuge from an insidious galactic empire. Upon Earth, they were gods among men. Literally. And became the very thing they sought refuge from.

The elves possessed laser and sound based weaponry. These things appeared to be magic to early humans. The elves used their power and wonder to enslave the human race to use as servants. They lived in giant city shaped ships. The humans cooked, cleaned, and built for the Elves.

The Elves banned all forms of enjoyment for humans. No man would serve another, nor himself. Only the Elves. But eventually there was a rebel. The humans called him "Saint Nicholas", the Elves called him "Santa". This man would bring joy to any human he could on any way he could, most commonly with gifts.

Eventually his gift giving became a rebellion against the Elves. Mankind warred with the Elves for many centuries. But finally, in an epic clash lead by they now hundreds of years old Saint, humanity bested the Elves. They were slaughtered, and the very last of them were taken by the saint, who had donned the name "Santa" to spite the Elves.

To this day, Santa keeps the last of the Elves, transformed into tiny creatures, at his palace in the farthest reaches of Earth. There, they slave away creating objects that will bring joy to children around the world. This is their punishment.
