Sounds similar to declawing a cat. I don't believe in removing animal's natural defenses.

Skunks only spray when they feel threatened. If you raise a skunk from a baby that learns to trust you and is comfortable, you don't have to worry about a spray. Many people have owned pet skunks without getting them de-skunked with no occurrences of sprays.
