Beware of trading scammers!

A subreddit for anything related to games (but not sports). "Related" means that posts must contain gaming-related content in the link/post body, not just a "forced" connection via the title or a caption added to the content.

"Generic" image macros/memes (where the character itself is not related to gaming) like Scumbag Steve, Good Guy Greg, etc. will be removed. Something that "reminds you of a game", or "looks like something from a game" is also not an appropriate submission.

Oh god the nostalgia. I remember having all those games on floppy discs for my old Macintosh. Did anyone play that maze game as well where you had to find some items while trying not to get caught by some light? I remember you had to find flashlights as well in order to open up some secret areas or shortcuts.

[–]blacknwhitelitebrite 0 points1 point ago

You thinking of a game where you were helped by this cat and dog to find clues and shit in a dark house?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Possibly I just remember that each level was a maze of rooms in a house and you had to find some items they listed, but you could only access certain parts of the maze by using a flashlight or a key in certain areas which opened up doors/attics that created paths to other parts of the maze. Also on the map it would show this blinking light that moved from room to room and if it ever reached the room you were in you had to start over, was quite suspenseful as a kid.

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

They are actually made by the same company, Math Munchers was a more up to date version (1995) to Number Munchers (1990)

I loved those games!!! Shit. I'd play them now if I could find them.

[–]SidewaysGC 6 points7 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Paws is the reason I suck at typing. In elementary school I learned that the scoring is based off speed just as much as accuracy. I would make sure to do the first half of the sentence perfectly and then quickly slam the keys and submit for maximum points.

[–]joealarson 1 point2 points ago

Oh, oh. I know this one. Super Solvers: Treasure Math Storm.

I played a bunch of the Super Solver series as a kid and looked them up recently. You can get the DOS versions of just about every game in the series from abandonware sites, you'll need DOSBox to play them. If you want the later, flashier, CD-Rom version I recommend e-Bay. The one I got still actually works.

So, do you feel having played this game improved you math skills?

[–]ripJDilla 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

I played the shit out of the math blaster games, those and the jumpstart games. I also remember having several magic school bus games. Looking back, I think those educational games really helped me excel in elementary school, I remember knowing a lot of things they taught in class already and being super stoked. Those games were actually fun too. Proof for me at least that educational games have a place in industry and work.

I just remember back in the early nineties I played a game where you were in a labrynth/maze thing and you started out in one corner and you only had like two paths to take, and every path you chose revealed more paths but you had to like solve a riddle or answer a question to move forward.

Anyone remember what it was called? I feel like it may have just been called "Labrynth"

All my friends were enjoying Rayman 2, so me and my dad go to EB games and he finds this game Rayman math. He told me to finish this then you can get Rayman 2. I have not finished it and it's been 12 years. Maybe I should do it and surprise him, only to fin the game.
