Don't make bad comics.

A subreddit for creating and sharing rage comics.

Important Links

Ground rules (click for explanation)

  1. Do not downvote or report people simply for quoting the rules.

  2. Don't submit things that aren't rage comics

  3. Reposts are strictly forbidden. If you didn't make it, don't post it. Do not submit a comic again because it did not do well. A second repost will result in a permanent banning. There are no exceptions.

  4. Your comic must be funny. If it's not, it will be removed, even if it has a million upvotes. Whether something is "funny" is judged by the moderators to keep quality high. Try allrages.

  5. Posts complaining about other posts, including ones that have been removed, will be deleted. Sorry dudes, but this is how we're running the show to make sure only quality comics make the front page. If you're not okay with that, allrages is not moderated.

  6. "Comparison comics" are not considered rage comics and are therefore not allowed.

  7. If your comic is a joke you heard from your buddy last night, this isn't the place. Try allrages.

  8. Use the [NSFW] tag generously.

  9. Only moderators are allowed to make self posts.

  10. Popularity doesn't equal relevance, and upvotes aren't a measure of how much your submission belongs in the subreddit

  11. No comics over 10 panels or under 2 panels

  12. Don't mention your cakeday, karma, or upvotes.

  13. No blog posts. Blog posts, also known as Livejournal posts, are preachy, self-serving, and rarely funny. Use text sparingly.

FAQ

Why isn't my comic on the "new" tab?
Give it a second. It was probably caught by the evil robotic spam filter, but we've created an even more powerful robot to save everything from the filter; it just can take a couple minutes. If it still doesn't work, message the moderators with a link to the comment thread of the post to have it approved.

Can I be a moderator, too?
As much as we love when community members want to help out, we can't accept requests for becoming moderators, or we'd be overwhelmed with nothing but such requests. Therefore, requesting to be a moderator will actually result in you getting banned instead. When we feel we need more moderators, we recruit from a list of people we have identified as being helpful and positive role models for the community. If you want to be a mod one day, that's how you'll go about doing it.

How do I get flair?
Asking for flair is not an effective way to get flair, and will likely result in an undesirable blurb of the moderators' choosing being installed for you. This will not be changed by subsequent messages. If you really, really want good flair, find some impressive way to earn it.

Technically, it's only the tomato sauce that counts as a vegetable. The crust counts as a grain, and the cheese as a dairy. Meet counts as protien. As you can see, we just need to feed kids pizza and all will be well.

We're entering a whole new level of Stupid. (Sidenote: And these are the people who regulate our lives?! WTF?!)

[–]vonkwink 6 points7 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Actually, the article headline is a whole new level of Stupid. Congress says that the tomato paste on a pizza is a vegetable. That article headline says that the pizza itself is a vegetable.

I don't think anyone claimed the news media was ever any more intelligent than Congress.

Touché. But it is very close to what congress asserted: "Under a proposed rule, a vegetable serving of tomato paste would have to be a whole one half-cup serving, not two tablespoons, as it is now." Ergo, pizza counts as a half cup serving of vegetable. Which means OP's title is not all that far-fetched. (Source:http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2011/11/does-pizza-deserve-to-be-a-vegetable.php)

OOOOOOH HUGE DIFFERENCE!

How in the hell is that a "gotcha"? It's like, if the headline was "Congress declares pizza a dairy product" and we were making fun of that, I suppose you'd come along and say, "That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard, they're talking about the cheese on the pizza!" And I'd have to say, "OOOOOOOOH HUGE DIFFERENCE!"

[–]CafeSilver[S] 2 points3 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

I find it hilarious that it upsets you that much. Here, have an upvote for your anger.

[–]regeya 1 point2 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Well, seriously, I've seen this all over the place, usually with claims of "liberal outrage". No, it's the realization that counting sauce in pizza as a vegetable means that schools can serve pizza and claim they served a vegetable. About 5 seconds' thought is all it takes to figure that out...

...unless anyone really thinks schools will serve a glass of pizza sauce, or drizzle marinara over broccoli.

[–]vonkwink 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

It is a huge difference. The fact that the whole pizza does not count as a vegetable means that the cheese, crust, etc. all need to be counted separately as the non-vegetables they are. Including these ingredients pushes on the fat and cholesterol allowances in school lunches.

[–]regeya -1 points0 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

What you're smoking, share it.

OK, you're right on one point. It won't just be counted as a vegetable. However, you need to at least listen to someone who was in school during the Reagan years. Here's what's going to happen. Pizza will be four food groups. Here's how. Tomato sauce=vegetable. Cheese=dairy. Pepperoni=meat. Crust=grain. OMFG, pizza covers four food groups! It's awesome!

None of this changes the fact that schools now get to count pizza as a vegetable.

[–]CafeSilver[S] 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Well they think they do. Much of what they do has very little effect on how I live my life. I never ate a school lunch when I was in school and I would never approve of my children eating them either. If you want your kids to eat healthy and get the nutrition they need you need to provide it for them. Counting on the school to do that is just stupid.

[–]BlorfMonger 2 points3 points ago

So you never had tater tots.

[–]CafeSilver[S] 1 point2 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Yes I have. At home, every once in a while. Eating them five days a week for an entire year is not healthy.

I'm pretty sure tomato is a fruit now though, stupeed congress peeples.

[–]ya_tu_sabes -1 points0 points ago

Agreed, but don't forget "It takes a village to educate a child" (Foreign proverb). Which means, as much as you want to give your child your values, the environment he lives in will also influence him. (Bronfenbrenner ecosystemic model) This is why immigrant parents have a cultural barrier with thei own children. These younglings are influenced by the society they live in. Relevant: http://geopolicraticus.files.wordpress.com/2011/01/bronfenbrenner-theory-of-ecology.jpg They might not influence your child directly but there is an undeniable (although maybe very small) influence.

[–]CafeSilver[S] 1 point2 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

I'm not keeping them from the "village" as you so call it. I'm keeping them eating the villages food which is substandard and probably shouldn't even be fed to dogs, let alone our children. In fact, the food our dog eats is probably better and has more nutritional value then what the schools feed our kids.

my parents enforced that same standard on me as a kid. everyday my mom made me a lunch and everyday that lunch collected at the bottom of my locker. if you take away pizza fridays, i will ensure all hell breaks loose.

and i don't even eat pizza anymore.

[–]CafeSilver[S] 0 points1 point ago

Pizza Fridays? They served what they called "pizza" every day at the school I went to. They also always served Taco Bell. I think when I was in 10th or 11th grade they started to serve Domino's pizza instead of whatever they were serving before. I'm still not sure if that was an upgrade or a downgrade.

[–]AreWeNotMenOfScience 6 points7 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Congress passed a bill negating another bill Obama had passed to make school lunches more healthy. The new bill put french fries back on the menu and reclassified the tomato paste on pizza as a vegetable. This is all for the shitty food companies that make school lunches and the potato industry.

[–]regeya 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Shit, I knew I should have checked Rawstory and FOX Nation after that came out. I can only imagine how they've been cheering about how school kids just got saved from Michele Obama's socialist plot to make them eat healthy food...

The lobbyists have bought and paid for all of them. How anyone can sit there and say two scoops of tomato paste qualifies as a serving of vegetables is beyond me.

What's a mushroom if not a vegetable? It's certainly not a fruit, meat, milk, or bread. The only thing left is for it to be a vegetable.

I think the main reason it's stupid to call pizza vegetable is because it's not just one thing. It's made out of multiple things from several different food groups.

[–]CafeSilver[S] 2 points3 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

I think a mushroom is actually a fungus.

[–]BluLite 1 point2 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

That's not one of the five food groups...

[–]CafeSilver[S] 3 points4 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Last I checked fungi wasn't even food. I'm not sure why people eat them and don't understand how anyone can like them. They taste horrible and the texture is enough to make me vomit.

[–]DreamCatcher24 1 point2 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Taste is subjective? Some cultures don't like cheese either. It smells pretty bad on its own.

[–]CafeSilver[S] 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

I don't like most cheeses. I do however like processed cheese.

I don't think you're eating those shrooms for the taste though...

[–]Malfeasant 1 point2 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

What's funny is I am talking about ordinary food-type shrooms, not the psychedelic variety...

[–]CafeSilver[S] 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

I've never heard anyone refer to non-psychedelic mushrooms as "shrooms."

[–]regeya 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

What's a mushroom if not a vegetable?

Loke CafeSilver said, a fungus.

[–]ilikethecaps 4 points5 points ago*

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

While I think it's stupid to classify pizza as a vegetable and this is the obvious result of lobbying, I do believe that the federal government has more important things to be worrying about than regulating the menus of school lunches. Jesus, we have a $15 trillion national debt and politicians are worrying about school lunches? Ugh.

[–]CafeSilver[S] 0 points1 point ago

Now that it's getting more popular I'm sure the grammar police will come around and downvote it into oblivion where it rightfully belongs. I am shamed.

[–]hatesairheads 2 points3 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Don't use the phrase "downvote it into oblivion" and you'll be OK. Everyone makes typos.

[–]CafeSilver[S] 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

I say it comically. I'm usually pretty good about my spelling and grammar. I don't post often, but when I do I apparently make typos.

[–]hatesairheads 1 point2 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Good to know. It's just that phrase got so overused let alone the fact that it's irritating. I usually automatically downvote every comment that has it except that I'm feeling nice today :)

[–]CafeSilver[S] 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Really? I can't remember ever reading that phrase on here. Maybe I subconsciously (I spelt it right the first time!) ignore it.

[–]ZenButcher 1 point2 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Didn't mean to come off as an ass if I did. Just trying to humorously point out the typo. I do them all the time.

edit: upvoted the comic since you were a good sport about the typo ;)

Well some asshole mod in this subreddit removed the post from the front page for no reason at all. It was getting tons of votes (up and down) very quickly and they killed it for some reason. I've messaged them and they won't respond. Frankly I think that's bullshit.

[–]HireALLTheThings 1 point2 points ago

[–]Carambar 1 point2 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Actually it only becomes a vegetebal after you put 2 scoops of fruit paste on it.

[–]CafeSilver[S] 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

My post was removed from the front page of this subreddit for no reason and no explanation. It was getting a lot of upvotes very quickly and then all of a sudden it just disappeared. I have sent the mods a message asking why but they refuse to answer. Obviously one of them didn't like my post and just removed it. There was nothing wrong with it and it followed all the rules. The fucking hypocrisy here is unbelievable. Is this how they treat new posters to their subreddit? Leave the system alone and let it work the way it was designed. If someone breaks the rules, fine. But don't remove content from public view just because you don't like it. That's fucking bullshit.

these types of rage comics are so boring. they are completely unoriginal (even more so than most ragemaker comics). they belong as comments on another thread.

[–]CafeSilver[S] 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

This rage comic is one of the few I do funny. When I got on Reddit this morning I saw numerous posts about pizza as a vegetable I expected to see this rage comic and didn't. So I made it. It perfectly describes my reaction.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

okay. that makes perfect sense.

your words: "I expected to see this rage comic" perfectly describes what I am saying. you expected it because there is at least one of these on the front page every day. comics exactly like this. that is very boring, and they are all unoriginal.

[–]CafeSilver[S] 1 point2 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

It's funny because it perfectly describes what people think. And I don't see this every day, maybe once or twice a week. That's the nature of rage comics. If you don't like them why are you here?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

i obviously like rage comics.

the comic is describing exactly what everyone is thinking. which makes it boring (in this case. i understand that this is the basis for a lot of comedy).

it's simply a hivemind comic; it is very overused and uninteresting. as a result, I do not like it.

[–]taniquetil -1 points0 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

It didn't. You're just reading the bullshit r/politics headlines without bothering to spend 30 seconds on Google.

The ruling is that the tomato sauce used in pizza is enough to qualify as a serving of vegetables. And, to be perfectly honest, the tomato sauce on pizza is probably more vegetable than the average American eats in a day.

[–]SayceGards 1 point2 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

How much tomato sauce is on a slice of pizza? Not enough.

[–]regeya 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

How in the fuck is that a "gotcha"?

The ruling is still that the tomato sauce on pizza counts as a serving of vegetables. I mean, Jesus fucking Christ, are you telling me schools would actually forego the pizza, and serve a cup of marinara? No, this means that schools get to count pizza as a fucking vegetable.

It's not bullshit, and no amount of condescension will change the fact that "tomato sauce on pizza" is equivalent to "pizza". For it to be sauce in pizza, it has to be pizza.

[–]abarrelofmonkeys -2 points-1 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Also missed the news.
