It is from a documentary how humanity could destroy earth. I think, this was supposed to show what happens if CERN actually created a black hole. Saw it at night some time ago.

I thought they would be mini-black holes with insufficient mass to be self sustaining that would evaporate is a blaze of gamma.

I don't exactly know. I was tired and it was only in the background for some noise while I tried to fall asleep. I'd have to search it. In Germany it was on N24 and will be repeated in a while. But it was originally an American documentary.
