It's also like a studying economics while killing undead most of the time.

1) Kill all the enemies

2) Pick up everything, encumbering yourself.

3) Open your and companion's inventory, trade/discard items depending on their value:weight.

4) Repeat the process until you exit the dungeon and quick travel to a town to rake in moolah.

5) Realize you haven't put any points in bartering skills so you end up selling 400G items for like 18G.

Lydia died in my first encounter after i got her.

Not because she was a terrible fighter. Infact, she was quite strong. But the dragon was stronger.

You basically have skill points that go up naturally to help all of your skills more generally, but then you have a more specific "talent tree"-like setup where you can spend points to improve something more specific within that given skill set. This applies to everything, including improving bartering, which is kept within the Speech tree (I believe).

e.g., Using one-handed weapons boosts your proficiency with all one-handed weapons, but there are skills within the One-Handed Weapons tree which allow you to, say, increase the critical strike chance of swords. (Spoilers used just in case, as someone used above.)

If they simply took off their clothes when you asked you wouldn't have to kill them.
