I think the "issue" many seem to have with your rage-comic is the fact that you mention Palestine/Israel.

Apparently this brings out the meanest streaks in people.

Maybe your fellow Arabs can accept what you describe in your rage-comic as valid (the issue with cultural difference in treating boys/girls), but they cannot accept your statement on the "big issue", or at least on that what Arabs/Muslims in particular claim to be the be-all-and-end-all-of-issues.

Probably not only does this enrage those who feel bound by their faith/culture to take a side, but also those that have an equal emotionally loaded and crippling view that are not Arabs, but probably more "liberal/leftist" Westerners.

So, you must not be a "true" representative of your people, you are even accused of being "too white" (sounds like what African-Americans tend to call those among them who go out of the usual group-think on issues).

I guess that if you had left out the back-and-forth between your mom and you on Palestine/Israel, you wouldn't had gotten this shit-storm over you.
