Rules

  1. No screenshots, or pictures with added or superimposed text. This includes image macros, comics, info-graphics and most diagrams. Text (e.g. a URL) serving to credit the original author is exempt.

  2. No gore or porn. NSFW content must be tagged.

  3. No personal information. This includes anything hosted on Facebook's servers, as they can be traced to the original account holder. Stalking & harassment will not be tolerated.

  4. No solicitation of votes (including "cake day" posts), posts with their sole purpose being to communicate with another redditor, or [FIXED] posts. DAE posts go in /r/DoesAnybodyElse. "Fixed" posts should be added as a comment to the original image.

  5. Submissions must link directly to a specific image file or to an image hosting website with minimal ads. We do not allow blog hosting of images ("blogspam"), but links to albums on image hosting websites are okay. URL shorteners are prohibited.

  • If your submission appears to be filtered but definitely meets the above rules, please send us a message with a link to the comments section of your post (not a direct link to the image). Don't delete it as that just makes the filter hate you!

  • If you come across any rule violations, please report the submission or message the mods and one of us will remove it!

Please also try to come up with original post titles. Submissions that use certain clichés/memes will be automatically tagged with a warning.

Christopher Walken does actually look like he's about to wreak death and destruction upon the world in that photo.

[–]stillalone 104 points105 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Christopher Walken looks like pestilence. Clint Eastwood looks like death. And Jack Nicolson looks like war. So that leaves Bill Murray as happiness; the worst horsemen of them all.

[–]notalandmine 104 points105 points ago*

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Just imagine each actor saying the title:

Clint Eastwood: Death
Jack Nicholson: War
Christopher Walken: Pestilence
Bill Murray: Oh, Come On! Famine?? Really??

And could we please get some Beatles Album cover pics of these guys? Let It Be, Help, Beatles For Sale...White Album for the lazies.

Edit: Discovered line spacing.

A good number of people interpret pestilence or the rider of the white horse to be the Conquerer, hence the crown. So under the assumption that it is not pestilence, I see Bill Murray as being the conquerer and Walken as famine.

Eastwood is Conquest, obviously. He's always been one for looking out over long horizons. And Nicholson is equally obviously War. There's something primal about his face.

Walken and Murray... Tricky. Walken looks diseased, ill, so my first thought is to place him upon the pale horse. But Murry just lacks something as Famine. I can see Walken's slightly distended features twisting into a pleased grimace as the bodies begin to crawl, starving.

Which leaves Murray as Death. And the more I think on it, the more I like it. He would appreciate the various ironies inherent in the role, I think. And deep down, I think I'm projecting. I'd like a friendly face at the end. He would do well enough.

[–]Toribor 101 points102 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Hmmm, this is how I see it. Anyone else see things differently?

Clint Eastwood: War

Jack Nicholson: Pestilence

Christopher Walken: Famine

Bill Murray: Death

[–]CassandraVindicated 224 points225 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

I'd call that different:

Clint Eastwood: Famine He's by far the thinest and while it's a stretch from what he usually does, he does seem to have the look to watch a starving child beg for food and respond with "Starve".

Jack Nicholson: War He doesn't lead any battles, he's the guy whispering in the ear of the man who controls the army.

Christopher Walken: Death

Bill Murray: Pestilence He carries every disease known to man and his job is to get as close to people as often as he can. Think awkward close-talker, slut, that guy at the salad bar...etc. Comic relief.

"I'm the Anti-Christ. You get me in a vendetta kind of mood, you'll tell the angels in heaven that you had never seen evil so singularly personified as you did in the face of the man who killed you." - C. Walken True Romance.

In the Madonna video for the song "Bad Girl" (from her album "Erotica"), Walken plays the Angel of Death who silently follows a woman (Madonna) as she is being destroyed by her lifestyle.

Walken also plays the Angel Gabriel as an avenging angel in the derpy go nowhere movie "The Prophecy". "I'm an angel. I kill firstborns while their mamas watch. I turn cities into salt. I even, when I feel like it, rip the souls from little girls, and from now till kingdom come, the only thing you can count on in your existence is never understanding why."

This guy has just got all the fucking moves, wouldn't surprise me if he turned out to be Satan himself when I reach the firey steps of descent.

Walken has already played the headless horseman in Sleepy Hollow. He has earned the right to play death.

Bill Murray is Death. Tell as many people as you can that he's Death Incarnate Upon This Existence. You will find that the man said it himself:

No one will ever believe you.

Pestilence isn't a horseman though. The fourth is Conquest.

you're pretty much spot on but I see Christopher Walken as the harbinger of death. I would never mess with Mr. Walken.

The amazing part was that Dennis Hopper ad libbed much of his dialog in that scene. When Walken was laughing at first, it was because he was blown away by what Hopper was doing.

Can you imagine being the poor schmuck in a room when the four of them walk in? The building could not contain that level of awesome in one place. The walls would simply explode.

Ah, we're going for a Pratchettian apocalypse, then.

Bill Murray would be a cool Death. Does he like cats?

[–]OneEagerGentleman 7 points8 points ago

If we're going Pratchettian, we need another horseman, the one who left before they became famous.

Still, upvotes, for using the word "Pratchettian"

y'kNOW I have EXTREMELY mixed feelings about these actors.

All are be great but...

Clint Eastwood I have never rated as an actor. Maybe it is the roles he was put in/chose. But I have always thought of him as an a-typical tough guy. Think Arnie (without the humour), Stallone (with some modicum of acting talent) or Brosnan (without Brosnan). Put Eastwood as a director and OH MY FUCKING GOD. He is one of the greatest directors of our time- strike that of any time. There is nothing specific you can pin down as what makes him a great director; that is what makes him such a brilliant director. Every facet of the movies he has directed has been good, adding up to an insanely talented director.

Jack Nicholson has been in some of my favourite movies. Furthermore he has been if not the strongest, at least one of the strongest actors in the cast. Why then can we think of the stereotypical Nicholson character? He does tend to portray each character in a very similar fashion. I think upon reflection that he basks in the talent of the director/writer/actor(ress) he is playing against. Does this make him a bad actor? Absolutely not! What it means that he was able to find his way into being popular by playing the right roles at the right time (Easy Rider), finding challenging parts to play (An Officer and a Gentleman A Few Good Men) and finding the right people to work with (I'm going to say The Shining, but put your own favourite Nicholson film here). That doesn't, however, take away from the fact that I have yet to see Jack Nicholson break out of his 'safe' characterisation. Saying that, however, he is one of the 'coolest' characters in Hollywood

Christopher Walken is the epitome of cool. Up against such a rogue gallery that is this picture says a lot. Again I haven’t seen Christopher Walken in much that challenges his range as an actor. As with Jack Nicholson, there is a stereotypical Walken character that invades all of his roles. Why then do I find him so believable in his characters? Is it because of the roles he has chosen? Is it because the directors he has worked with? Is it because (and I think this may be the truth) his ‘character’ is actually a changeling. Not quite the Stanislavski actor, more like The Thing; inhabiting the role whilst still being Christopher Walken

Last of all Ground Hog Day Ghost-Busting Ass Bill Muwway! Here is a man whom has made a quite impressive career out of playing the extremely laid back character. He took it to a head in Lost In Translation, and took it to the esoteric extreme in Broken Flowers. I have yet to see Bill Murray play any other character other than Bill Murray. Why is it that I don’t dislike him for not being able to lose himself in a role? I can’t answer that. Zombie Land is the closest I have ever seen to summing up the actor that is Bill Murray. As much as I shouldn’t like Bill Murray as an actor I do.

The Four Horsemen? Well if these four are going to lead me into the Apocalypse I can only hope to hold on tight for the ride.

*TL/DR Please, please, please. This took me far to long to write I implore you to read it **

Jack Nicholson... finding challenging parts to play (An Officer and a Gentleman)

Err, I may be missing a joke or something here, but Jack Nicholson was not in An Officer and a Gentleman. Are you thinking of A Few Good Men perhaps?

" First of all, I'd like to thank whichever one of you donut-munching, barrel-assed, pud-pulling sissies leaked this to the press. That's just what we need now: some sensational story in the papers making these boys out to be superheroes, triumphing over evil. Let me squash the rumors now. These two are not heroes. They're just two ordinary men who were put in an extraordinary situation and they just happened to come out on top. Yes, nothing from our far-reaching computer system has turned up diddly on these two. All we know is what we found out from the neighbors, and the general consensus is, they're angels. But angels don't kill. And we got two bodies in the morgue that look like they've been "serial-crushed by some huge friggin' guy".
