Hardly. Raccoons aren't particularly vicious. They're actually pretty cool, and very, very smart. We used to have a family of them that ate with our outdoor cats every night. They were awesome.

It's obviously fake because the raccoon to cat ratio in that pic is ridiculous, unless that's a GIANT 'coon and a kitten.

Also, before you bring up rabies, please note that raccoons have no more likelihood of getting rabies than any wild omnivore.

There was a rabies scare are few years ago a few towns over. They need the head to check for rabies. They paid a cop to shoot over 200 racoons. Not one had rabies. Fuckers.

I have hand fed wild racoons. They are more intelligent cops.

I heard a noise coming from my garage. I walked over to it and lifted up the door. Inside I saw three raccoons rummaging through stuff. They must have been in there when I had closed the garage door earlier. I turned around and saw two more sitting on my driveway watching me about 20 feet away. At that point I decided it was better to be inside.

It's a newborn-ish kitty and a full grown coon. I for one can believe this, especially if the kitty was playing with the coon cubs. Racoons are intelligent animals, they couldn't get into our bird feeder, so they unscrewed it and took it. Then it was back in it's place 3 days later, empty and with a lot of scratch marks.

I don't know, they can be pretty intimidating sometimes. I had one getting in my garbage one night and went out with a broomstick to chase him away (by making noise and banging the stick on my deck.) I was thinking I was Joe bad-ass primate and that that raccoon would run away in terror. Instead it bared it's teeth and hissed at me. That's when I realized how freaking big he was, and that I had nothing on but a pair of shorts.

I went back inside and cleaned up the mess in the morning.
