Why do people hate people who talk on the phone in the elevator? How is it any different than talking to someone else in the elevator?

It's not like they're going through a checkout line at the store, where the cashier needs to converse with the person on the phone. You have no need to talk to that person, what do you care if they're on the phone?

Not to mention that this response would cause you to be on the elevator with someone who is talking on their phone for a longer period of time.

because of our brain :]

it's much easier to ignore two people talking to each other than ignore a person talking on a phone

in the first case our brain is just listening in background and doesn't have to do much, but in the second case the brain has to figure out the missing part of the conversation and that's much harder and it's also a reason why are people so annoyed
