You know, If I were Tim Curry, I would dress up as Pennywise every Halloween. Then I would just wander random suburban neighborhoods.

It's a testament to Curry's acting ability that people of my generation remember Pennywise as being so scary when, in fact, he had like 5 minutes of screen time in the 3 1/2 hours of It.

On a related not, It may be the worst movie ever made. My wife and I tried to watch it a few months ago as we both had fond memories (ie., remembered it being so scary) and holy shit is it ever bad. I wasn't expecting it to be scary but I wouldn't even classify it as watchable...

TIL That Tim Curry played Pennywise in It.
I saw It so long ago, that I never made the connection. Thanks you sir.

He rarely gets the love he deserves for his amazing range. He played Pennywise, Dr Frank'n'furter in the RHPS, Great darkness in Legend etc etc. That man has talent.

Amazing range you say? Verily.

Was he lost in a large and terribly expensive forest?

So I opened this without reading the title and just seeing that fucking clown's face sent a wave of fear through my body.....I'm 30 and apparently not yet over it.

FUCK.

I did the same thing except left the computer before it loaded, came back to a black screen and then this shit popped up.

This exact scene was the subject of nightmares for years for me.

Funny thing is, I can watch any other scary movie but you throw a damn clown in and that shit is fucked.

After watching this movie, I was sometimes scared that he would "smile" to me through the toilet or bathtub drain...

My mom watched this movie when she was 32. According to my dad, ( I was 3 at the time, couldn't really tell ya) she wouldn't go near the toilet, the sinks, or the shower without my dad next to her for 6 months. I watched it when I was about 8 with her, and it was more fun watching her than watching the movie. This is also the same woman that whenever a thunderstorm was going on, she'd run underneath the bed and stay there til it was over. Wonderful woman though, miss her dearly.

To me, clowns aren't funny. In fact, they're kind of scary. I've wondered where this started and I think it goes back to the time I went to the circus, and a clown killed my dad

couldn't agree more, still blame my parents for letting me watch this as a kid

I'm 22 and there is a drain like this on my walk to work that I make at 6 a.m. every morning... I cross to the other side of the street, just in case.

haha! I was telling my daughters about the clown that lives in drains when we were trick-or-treating last week!!!

I read the book when I was about 13 or 14, talk about scary, the stuff in your head is way more scary than a movie!

Wasn't there a scene involving a shower drain in this movie? I haven't watched this movie since I was a kid (10-11ish?) and refuse to re-watch it, because it scared the shit out of me. Since then I have never stood over my drain for some reason O__o Maybe it was another scary movie... but I'm too damn scared to google this, especially because I'm about to go take a shower.

What's creepy about a clown living down a sewer waiting to rip the arms of little kids?

I kept waiting to see this movie pop up during Halloween...so thanks for the belated nightmares.

This movie made me nervous of drains long after i was old enough to realise it was ridiculous.Still don't like swimming in the sea after watching jaws as an eight year old.

Pennywise reminds me of Ronald McDonald. Ronald McDonald is a pervert.

I don't understand clowns they have always creeped me out! i cant even go to a cirkus without feeling that some pervert going to dress like a clown a make little kids laugh. my mom took me and my brother to a circus we both screamed and cried and runned out from the circus when the clown appeared. i have never been to a circus to that day
