If I remember correctly, something triggered the fire alarm response for the door. Revolving doors are designed to fold together in the even of an emergency (fire) to allow two continuous passages out of the building rather than make people scream and squeeze into the individual cells. The poor sap was in between two doors that were supposed to snap together and when they closed rapidly on him the glass shattered.

So instead of all the screaming people try to get out through the individual cells of the revolving door, just a few get glass sandwiched for the greater good.

Incorrect. I can think of quite a few references that are more obscure. The above reference is from a film that maybe a few million have seen. I could make a reference to some injoke that exists between me and a few friends.

Wind gust..

Revolving doors are designed to fold together for maintenance, installation and removal. Watch the leading edge of the door and just as it's front side is exposed to the outside it folds in. A large wind gust caught it at a glancing angle and it wasn't secured properly.

If you look closely there's a person on the outside of the building trying to enter through the exit of that door. I think this triggered the folding of the doors.
