Learn to cook. Bitches love food.

Damn straight. You dont even have to know what you are doing, as long as you appear to know what you are doing, and not burn anything.

Not to mention most stuff is easy and ready in about 20 minutes. Cooking from scratch is more filling, tastier and usually just as cost effective as living off ramen and peanut butter sandwiches.

Two things that are much more impressive than the effort required - fresh bread/rolls and a dessert flambé. Never fails to impress.

Also, if you can't grill worth a damn, turn in your man card at the courtesy desk.

Fuckin' A. I've never cooked before aside from ramen and macncheese. But a few weeks ago I made a totally rad veggie-heavy Shepard's Pie. Totally nailed it (Kinda...needed more potato). Bitches loved it.

You're doing it wrong.

it's really really really not that hard boil some real pasta and dump some sauce in a jar, voila, food

I never got the whole Ramen thing. Pasta is cheaper, tastier, and healthier.

[–]Soggybiscuit 5 points6 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Well i don't think its cheaper ... And also it takes a longer time to prepare but i'll be damned if it is not tastier!

A box of spaghetti is like 4-8 servings for $1.

[–]Jebise79 2 points3 points ago

Right but then you have to at least add some sauce which is $2-3. Then you can add beef($2) and veggies($2).

But then you have a lot of nutritious, tasty food that can last you a couple of meals.

If you're going for pure cheapness, pasta is edible with some butter and garlic.

Also you won't turn into another malnourished college freshman.

Is that any good? I'll have to try it sometime.

[–]Lampmonster1 2 points3 points ago

It's okay. It goes okay with a salad for a light, easy meal.

You can get Ramen packets for around 20 cents at my grocery store.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

A packet a Ramen for $.20 = 15 oz. for $1

A box of spaghetti = 16 oz. for $1

Healthier? I suppose there is less sodium in pasta, but otherwise, not much of a difference.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Ramen has more fat, more sodium, less protein, less vitamins.

[–]anubus72 3 points4 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

wouldn't that depend on the pasta you are using...?

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Maybe. All the pasta I've ever bought has had generally the same nutrition facts though. I can't imagine what kind of pasta would have nutrition facts similar to Ramen.

[–]Initforthecats 0 points1 point ago

I now have to watch my sodium and I was reading labels the other day and whole wheat pasta is actually less healthy then regular pasta. wtf?

[–]skeddles 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

wellll... you can get them for like 25 cents, and they're very easy to cook.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

You can get more pasta for relatively the same price (even cheaper) and its still very easy to cook.

Try real ramen some time. Real ramen is as simple as adding a few veggies, thinly sliced pork/beef, and a hard boiled egg to a cheap ramen packet. Or go all out with some kailua pork, sriracha, and miso. Either way it's still cheap and tasty.

It looks like you were making a giant flying onion ring. If that's the case, then you have succeeded. Your cooking technique is a little... inhumane. But what great chef isn't called inhumane every once in a while?

I think most people that don't cook have the impression that its far easier to screw up a meal than it really is. I make mistakes all the time cooking. A few of those mistakes ended up tasting better than what I intended and became part of the recipe. But you almost always end up with something edible.

How I make ramen: put water on stove, add frozen peas. While water and peas are heating up cut up some onion and smoked sausage. Add both to the water/peas. Add noodles and cook until boiling. Add the spice and some cayene pepper for flavor. When its all done, drain to the point where only a little water remains. Reduce heat, add 3 slices of cheese and stur until cheese is melted and creamy. I usually use Chicken Raman. Sometimes I fry chicken and add it instead of the sausage.

Chicken breasts or tenders, raw. Cheap. You can feed two people for under $4.

Take out of the package and rinse in hot water from the tap. Place on paper towels to dry, then slice into long strips. Grab a bowl and a bit of flour. Add dried oregano, basil, onion powder and garlic powder. Just throw it all in the same bowl. Dredge your chicken strips in this mixture, coating them thoroughly.

Heat up 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil (or any cheap oil if you're a farmer) in a sautee pan (any frying pan will work). Get that oil pretty hot. Put chicken in pan. Turn over when bottoms show a bit of brown. Cook until ready (10 minutes total -- no more). Now, you have options. You could deglaze the pan with chicken stock or vegetable stock or beer, wine, etc. Add a bit of the flour and you have a gravy going. Add the chicken back in for a couple minutes and serve. Or screw deglazing and throw BBQ sauce on the chicken for a minute. Or stir fry sauce. Or Siracha the fuck out of it. You could use honey, any hot sauce you have around, ranch dressing, etc. Salt and pepper at the end. Rice makes a nice complement.

Or, boil some pasta to go with it. Easy shit: bring water to boil, add pasta, 9 minutes to al dente, 10 minutes to "done". No more or it's sticky. Drain it and toss it with your chicken and add any cheap pasta sauce or just garlic and butter heated in a pan. Garlic powder works in a pinch. Season the whole thing with the dried oregano before serving. Tasty shit.

You really ought to widen your range of cooking skills. I've got mine up to:

  • Open can, dump contents in bowl, microwave.
  • Remove box from freezer, pull up that plastic in the corner, microwave.
  • Remove item from box in freezer, insert into toaster.
  • Locate box in pantry, pour contents into bowl, pour milk into bowl.

Are you 10? If you can heat water you can make spaghetti or pasta, and you can put anything in those and eat hot or cold.

What is ramen noodles? I hear so much talk about this on reddit. Are ramen noodles somehow different from regular noodles?
