I have a stubby toe that they believe is due to Agent Orange poisoning in my mom. So yes the effects are still around even if the deformity is small.

This is a photo of a tub containing some unknonwwn liquid, probaly a preservative, and a number of deformed dead infants or aborted fetuses, whether those abortions were spontaneous or induced. It is also photoshopped. Now, some number of infants hav died, but there is no deformity where a human trunk is doubled and a basically normal head is located at each end. Never reported, anywhere, with any pathology. Ther is also no documentation of where it comes from or what it depicts. Why not say DDT, or oil spills or any damn thing you want is still causing harm? Doctored photo, no backup to the claim that agent orange was involved.

Why hate the manufacturer? The US Government put out the tender, THEY said "We need something that will kill all vegetation when applied by areal or ground spray." And Monsanto said, "We can do that". and so they did.

and the fact that they warned the govt that an even more toxic chemical was accidentally produced and was now mixed with the orange, govt proceeded to say fuck it and dropped on vietnam anyway.

still i wouldnt trust them with any fucking tomato im eating. there is no way monsanto is spending enough on research to verify the short AND long term safety of their products, if that is even possible.

You grow your own tomatoes I take it? Old fashioned tomatoes are almost impossible to find now. Seriously, people have been genetically modifying foods and animals for centuries. Corn, in it's original state was uneatable. All breeds of cattle have been bred for certain traits. Dogs, Cats, Horses, Sheep, Pigs... all of them have been genetically engineered by people in the past, through selective breeding. Wheat, Flax, Corn, Soy beans, nearly every garden vegetable has gone down the same routes in the distant past. All through cross breeding.

So when today, we are able to bypass a bit of the effort, and inject genes directly into the DNA structure of plants and animals to produce beneficial traits, instead of cross breeding, I don't have as much of a problem with that as I do with other issues related.

Much better to have a tomato which is pesticide resistant and which stays fresher longer, and which uses 1/2 the water a regular tomato uses to grow than to have the original.

The major problem is that by engineering DNA you eliminate natural selection.

A couple of centuries ago, if you new breed of cattle was crap it was going to die out, period. Nowadays we can skip the natural selection and create all sorts of mutant genomes. Some of them turn out to be major partypoopers in the long run. But because we didn't have to wait several generations before our new product becomes useable, we sometimes only find out about these massive side-effects when the damage has already been done. Meet Monsanto.
