A place to share interesting photographs and pictures. Feel free to post your own, but please read the rules first (see below), and note that we are not a catch-all for general images (of screenshots, comics, etc.)

Rules

  1. No screenshots, or pictures with added or superimposed text. This includes image macros, comics, info-graphics and most diagrams. Text (e.g. a URL) serving to credit the original author is exempt.

  2. No gore or porn. NSFW content must be tagged.

  3. No personal information. This includes anything hosted on Facebook's servers, as they can be traced to the original account holder. Stalking & harassment will not be tolerated.

  4. No solicitation of votes (including "cake day" posts), posts with their sole purpose being to communicate with another redditor, or [FIXED] posts. DAE posts go in /r/DoesAnybodyElse. "Fixed" posts should be added as a comment to the original image.

  5. Submissions must link directly to a specific image file or to an image hosting website with minimal ads. We do not allow blog hosting of images ("blogspam"), but links to albums on image hosting websites are okay. URL shorteners are prohibited.

  • If your submission appears to be filtered but definitely meets the above rules, please send us a message with a link to the comments section of your post (not a direct link to the image). Don't delete it as that just makes the filter hate you!

  • If you come across any rule violations, please report the submission or message the mods and one of us will remove it!

Please also try to come up with original post titles. Submissions that use certain clichés/memes will be automatically tagged with a warning.

Definitely gives perspective, but I think the issue with Occupy is that the country is designed for a better class structure than the one we have now, whatever the issues with the rest of the world. Must our system be so warped and fucked? There's that and the point that some of those unfortunates in those statistics come from the 99%.

Yes, because problems are completely irrelevant as long as any other problem exists anywhere that is worse. Can't complain about having your leg cut off. There are people who lost both legs! Suck it up, bitch. Lost both legs? Stop crying, sissy. There are people with no limbs at all! No limbs? Be happy you're alive! Fuck everything about this.

Agree, but the 1% shouldn't be growing exponentially in wealth off the 99%, while the middle class slowly diminish towards poverty.

Being part of the 99% in the US makes many of us lucky, yes. But that is no reason to not be angry that our current system creates such wealth disparities.

The whole world needs to be changed. There is nothing wrong starting with that change at home.

Fuckups on Wall Street have global ramifications; so that 75% referenced in the graphic loses too.

I hate this picture. So I should just be okay with banks & corporations ruining America because I'm more fortunate than the rest of the world? I should just settle is what it's essentially saying. I understand where people are coming from when they show pictures of the 99% and pictures of starving kids. But how are we as a nation supposed to help those people if we can only live day by day? I support this movement because the world will be completely changed when it succeeds. For me this isn't just a change for America, it's a change for humanity in general.

According to the CIA World Factbook it is estimated that the overall world literacy rate was 82%. So the illiteracy rate would be around 18%. Illiteracy is defined as those over 15 who can read and write.
