Problem with either rebooting or continuing the series is that Tony Jay is dead. The voice actors are the main reason these games were so amazing imo. Tony played the Elder God in all of the Reaver games and played Mortanius in the original Blood Omen, which is still my favorite by far.

As much as people disliked the last soul reaver and the last blood omen... I loved them all. My nostalgia glasses are on and they are seeing true! I still have my ps2 copies and really would love to see a sequel! I cant believe I hadn't thought of that yet! Good catch sir.

I would like nothing more than a new Soul Reaver game. However, there are 2 big obstacles in the way:

Tony Jay (Voice of the elder god) passed away. It would be hard to replace him.
Amy Hennig (The writer and director for the Soul Reaver Series) no longer works at Crystal Dynamics. She now works at a studio you may have heard of before called Naughty Dog. She is currently the writer and Creative Director for the Uncharted series. (now you know why that series is so popular, she is really that talented)

I, also, was a huge fan of this series. I played through the first and second Soul Reavers so many damn times. I will say that a recent game almost seemed like a Spiritual Continuation of this series... DarkSiders.

From the moment I turned the game on, it truly felt like I was playing a Soul Reaver game. An awful lot of the gameplay mechanics are very similar to the SR series, and it was a lot of fun to play.

Ever wonder why the character dialogue in the Uncharted series is so god damn amazing? Thank Amy Hennig. She's the lead director/writer of the series. I honestly believe she's the best dialogue writer in the business.

Defiance needs some more love! It was amazing how it reconnected and closed all the open stories and questions i.e. the nature of the Elder God, where Turiel was, how the event of Blood Omen 2 were possible, the ancient vampire civilization

I think a big reason that people aren't mentioning here as to why there's no sequel not only has to do with Amy Hennig and Tony Jay, but also that the story in Defiance closed for Raziel at least. Spoilers: at the end of Defiance Raziel accepts his fate that the only way to defeat the elder god and save Nozgoth is to lend his power to Kain by becoming the spirit trapped within the soul reaver blade. Kain is then left alone with the blade to hunt down the elder God in order to restore life to Nozgoth. If there were to be a sequel made, it sadly could not have much of Raziel in it without breaking the story and the impact of Raziel's sacrifice.

I 100% agree with that one. Also, with all the HD remakes that are releases (splinter cell, metal gear, devil may cry and so on) I would love to see the soul reaver/blood omen HD collection. first day buy for me!

The first one was an incredible game but I think releasing a third (yeah I know about the cross over but I'm gona say third anyway) into the series at this point is unfeasible. It would either have entirely different gameplay or be stonewalled for being dated.

They're fantastic games but I don't see another one coming out.

I grew up spending a shitload of time on the first Soul Reaver game. And 10 years later i still think its one of best games ever made.

The voice acting, the story, the music. Just the overall feeling of the game is so amazing and i have not yet found the same feeling of any other game.

But i dont think we will see a new game from this series anymore.

The original Soul Reaver was a pretty fantastic game sans-some-block-puzzles but they kinda doomed the series with lackluster sequels. Even Defiance, which was an upnote, was still just another DevilMayCry clone lost among a time when every game developer seemed to be putting their own version out there, God of War just ended up being the most successful.

Voices can be replaced re-cast, stories can be re-done. It my be an issue to die hard fans but it is just a voce. a reboot of Soul Reaver and Blood Omen.

I would love a remake of shenmue as it was an amazing game and story plus the direction the series was going to take before its abrupt end. Although I would like it, I wouldn't be upset about voices changing.

If it has to be done I'd rather have it done in the orignal high detail top-down perspective. As awesome as the voices / story was though the series the graphics in my opinion felt subpar to how awesome the original game looked.

On another note, the hero character Raziel was always doing the wrong thing for the right reasons, while Kain always did the right thing through selfishness and arrogance(the wrong reasons). it was hard to hate him though. Also, this was one of the few games that got vampires right.
