Minecraft is fantastic and all, but if there was a Lego mod and you could build/import real models into the game I'd never leave my PC again.

Edit: LDraw on its own is addictive enough. The huge success of the Lego Harry Potter/Star Wars/Indiana Jones should make it clear we'd all love a basic sandbox Lego game.

I was so dumb when I played this game. I had no idea you needed to be the pizza boy to advance the story. So I was just running around the island for what seemed like months before I finally delivered a pizza to the jail and bam... END OF GAME.

I did phone support for Lego Media in the late 90's into the early '00s. The Christmas following the release of Lego Island was one of the worst experiences of my life.

We were slammed with calls for weeks on end, a never ending flood of grandmothers trying to get this fucking game working on their Win95 Packard Bell with an S3 Trio 64 and 16MB of RAM. Every single time we had to disable hardware acceleration in DirectX. Hundreds of thousands of callers who's machine would never again render 3D as they wouldn't know how to undo what we'd done!

I remember driving things to full speed then jumping off of them so that they would race around the island. I did this to every mode of transportation, including the helicopter. I also made the game bug the fuck out, I got every NPC to disappear and I got them to be stuck way up in the air for no apparent reason.

I played this game on an office computer at my dad's company years back. This computer couldnt really handle it so the frame rate must have been something like 5 or 6. It was pretty much like playing a game with still pictures one after another. It was my first experience with a fully 3d game and so thats how I thought it was supposed to be played. It wasnt until years later that I realized that that game was played like any other game.

This came with my Pentium II computer. Played the crap out of it because it had Lego in the title. I think I got way more gameplay out of it than intended, because I explored the island constantly for years, convinced I could find more secrets in it. I loved the music too and made myself a soundtrack rip. My only regret is that it's all stored in the game as low quality compressed WAVs and there aren't any crystal clear versions out there. I'd pay for something like that.
