I hate to be Mr. Science but what we are seeing here is a lenticular cloud formation which is caused by stable warm air being pushed up the mountain by wind and cooling down at the peak of the mountain and condensing.

Is there another mountain peak behind that statue with a camera mounted on it, or do they just send helicopters up there to take pictures all the god damn time? I only ask because the OP says "this morning", and I can't imagine that someone would fly up there every morning to check to see if the weather conditions at the Jesus are favorable for photography.

The mountain actually looks like this quite often. When I visited a few years ago it had these clouds every morning. It looked like this before "Christ the Redemer" was built there and will continue to look like this long after the statue is disassembled.

I'm not trying to mitigate the awesomeness of this photograph, but clouds form over mountain ranges like this on a DAILY BASIS. In fact, this kind of cloud formation (lenticular) occurs around parts of the Corcovado Mountain Range almost every morning (especially in the Fall). It just happens to be forming under the Christ the Redeemer statue--stimulating the subjective minds of Christians everywhere. The only thing magical about this is the photograph itself.
