Hey guys!
Can you please let me know if you're seeing improvements and/or what problems you're seeing
PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF DINOSAURS UPVOTE INSTEAD OF REPOSTING
If everyone posts replies it floods and in turn breaks my inbox. :)

wait your adding dinosaurs?
[–]PorkTORNADO 1 point2 points3 points 11 months ago
I'm getting ZERO change in the rubber banding issue. Still happening every 5-10 seconds. Game is playable, but not enjoyable to play like this at all. Really destroys all the immersion not to mention my sanity.
[–]crash7800BF3 Community Manager 2 points3 points4 points 11 months ago
Good to know - i think we still have some fixes coming in
[–]preliatorPiuma Bianca 1 point2 points3 points 11 months ago
While playing caspian CQ on 360, I was having green flashing on my screen.
Tehran is still rubber banding.
The French infantry map (sorry can't think of name) was having some stuttering and jittering. Not exactly like rubber banding. It was more twitchy.
[–]TumlerenTumleren 1 point2 points3 points 11 months ago
I've experienced a lot more 'BF3.exe has stopped working' errors on Win7 64bit SP1. When I quit a server, then join a new one after a minute or two I get the Bf3.exe crash
[–]crash7800BF3 Community Manager 1 point2 points3 points 11 months ago
May I ask what antivirus you are using?
MSE, Microsoft Security Essentials
I'll send you a DM
[–]LadyBrecky 0 points1 point2 points 11 months ago
I saw improvement for rubber banding on every map except........ Tehran Highway its such a wonderful map but the rubber banding is terrible I have tried 7 servers and none of them rubber banded on other maps.
[–]KamikazeSexPilot 0 points1 point2 points 11 months ago
Up until yesterday i had barely any rubber banding. NOW i can't even play the game, i can barely move or switch weapons. Happens on every single map. Even squad rush with 8 players the rubber banding is insane.
[–]crash7800BF3 Community Manager 0 points1 point2 points 11 months ago
Yikes! What platform?
PC

Changelog as per http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf3/news/view/2832654774182727981/
Fix for crashes usually occurring during level switches. Server providers may see a little bit of memory leakage instead in this situation
Game servers should no longer quit in some situations where the online backend servers are down. Server will reconnect to the backend once it's up again
Fix for ghost servers which didn't accept connections
Kick reasons should better match situations where they are issued. This will help battlelog provide more accurate information to the player
Connection fixes to avoid players sometimes being rejected while joining the game server on one of the last slots
Security updates
Improved server logging
No mention of anything like rubber-banding
[–]HungerSTGFxMasterChefx 5 points6 points7 points 11 months ago
Server optimization always contributes to fixing server-side problems encountered in-game like rubber-banding, it's like saying fixing the netcode makes the game lag less, it's sort of a given.
[–]Ragarnok 1 point2 points3 points 11 months ago
Rubber banding and lag aren't the same thing, moreover fixing server-side problem could be things like CPU load, memory usage etc... BF3 take a lot of resources server-wise and fixing those may or may not have an impact on rubber-banding but could for example reduce the CPU load of a BF3 server on a rack
[–]FuzzeWuzze 1 point2 points3 points 11 months ago
I play on plenty of servers without rubber banding issues...
But i know a few that always do it...
Therefore i can only conclude that some of these servers are underpowered for the amount of slots they are hosting.
[–]philodoxOmoplatypus 0 points1 point2 points 11 months ago
I think you are correct about this. A lot of it comes down to the server provider and how many other servers they are hosting on the same hardware. We previously had a BC2 server with another company and it rubberbanded ALL the time, even after requesting server changes. Just started BF3 server with a new company and it has been 100% flawless.
I've tried numerous servers and since my rubber banding problems started yesterday every single server is doing it. Although it seems it isn't affecting any of the other players in the server.
[–]stroikefreedomiM-zolt 27 points28 points29 points 11 months ago
You have too much faith in DICE my good friend.
[–]i_lyke_moneyhayesj23 11 points12 points13 points 11 months ago
I WANT TO BELIEVE
[–]AyeGeeAyeGee 2 points3 points4 points 11 months ago
I just played with lots of rubberbanding.
[–]Pfmohr2 10 points11 points12 points 11 months ago
Except they are fixing server-side memory leaks, not rubber-banding.
So, yeah.
[–]merlinm 2 points3 points4 points 11 months ago
well, a memory leak could lead to rubber banding maybe? (server gets progressively slower, etc)
[–]Chunq 1 point2 points3 points 11 months ago*
I thought the announcement said the server-side memory leaks are the side effect of fixing the rubber banding.
edit: Never mind, the title of this post is misleading. They didn't say anything about fixing memory leaks either though, rather servers may be experiencing more memory leaks.
We're fixing a few things. More than just one event happening at a time here.
[–]midwestgator 0 points1 point2 points 11 months ago
Thanks for the update crash. Can you confirm that rubberbanding is a priority? It seems to be the most painful thing at this point.
Is there anything we can do to help pinpoint the problem? Like start accumulating battelogs with an approximate idea of when we believe the rubberbanding happened?
Definitely is.
If you guys talk about it, we'l keep track of it.
I think there may be a thread in the forums
[–]yiffrushkekeke -8 points-7 points-6 points 11 months ago
More than just one event happening at a time here.
No shit?
You just felt the need to throw that out there? Passive aggression. EA has it down to a science.
Huh?
No - I meant that we're upgrading multiple servers and services at the same time :)
[–]shazzam6999 0 points1 point2 points 11 months ago
Unnecessary agression targeted at someone clarifying an update. yiffrushwhatever has it down to a science.
[–]OuHiroshi 0 points1 point2 points 11 months ago
All it said was that it'll have memory leak instead of crashing. Not sure it's better since the memory leak can accumulate over time.
[–]tondo22Fr00sh 5 points6 points7 points 11 months ago
Thank fuck. have not joined a 64 player server without a problem yet.
[–]KnorreMilestodon 2 points3 points4 points 11 months ago
What will they specificly improve?

Fix for crashes usually occurring during level switches. Server providers may see a little bit of memory leakage instead in this situation.
Wow, that's called a fix these days? I'm fine with it though as the map change crashes annoy the hell out of me.
[–]Apocolypse007 0 points1 point2 points 11 months ago
It is probably a temporary work around until they can fully fix the problem, rather than waiting even longer to fully fix while people keep crashing.
[–]tomscatersbooner1991 4 points5 points6 points 11 months ago
The r6 patch didn't mention anything about rubber-banding fixes. I believe they are focusing on memory leaks etc. on the server side. The server lag has been said to come from server companies underestimating the bandwidth and computer power required to operate a 64 man server on this game. I do not take credit for this statement however. Someone on this subreddit said it.
[–]charlesviper 2 points3 points4 points 11 months ago
It's also clearly a problem with differences in map design, specifically Tehran Highway. Sure, rubber banding happens often in poorly managed servers on any map, but Tehran Highway will have the problem on conquest regardless of any sort of variable. I have never, ever played a smooth game of Tehran Highway, even on 32 player servers that have no issue with the other maps in their rotation.
[–]whytookay 0 points1 point2 points 11 months ago
This is weird, as I generally have very smooth games on Tehran Highway, but get aggressive rubber banding at times on Kharg Island and Caspian Border.
[–]Sc0rch 0 points1 point2 points 11 months ago
It's the same on 360 too, very little rubberbanding on any map, but on Tehran Highway it's almost always there, and always really really severe too. Same with friends I've talked to.
Clearly something to do with that map.
[–]JEverymanJack Everyman 0 points1 point2 points 11 months ago
It happens in conquest and on and after the third sets in rush for me. I have never noticed it on the first two sets.
[–]UpvoteForStuffRyroNZ -4 points-3 points-2 points 11 months ago
I played it fine on Squad Rush :P
[–]Grammer_NotZ 1 point2 points3 points 11 months ago
if your game is working fine, pretend that it's not and join the circlejerk
don't stand in the limelight kid
[–]morgano 0 points1 point2 points 11 months ago
The problem happens on 24 player PS3 servers so it's not just 64 player. Also as mentioned previously only some maps are affected (e.g. Tehran Highway).
[–]Mercy4Madness 0 points1 point2 points 11 months ago*
The server lag has been said to come from server companies underestimating the bandwidth and computer power required to operate a 64 man server on this game.
I don't think that's the case. Going by what a "GameServer Officer" said it appears that it's on DICE's end that causes it.
Also this server provider's post addresses it as well.
[–]CyricCyr1c 0 points1 point2 points 11 months ago
but at this point we are awaiting the next server build in order to fix the issue.
Could be this one... fingers crossed
[–]FuzzeWuzze 0 points1 point2 points 11 months ago
The fact of the matter is, i have played Tehran without lag on some servers...but other servers like some Seattle server ive played(which has like 20 ping) rubber bands like crazy.
I honestly think its a bit of both at this point.

I really hope the server time out issue gets fixed, I love this game but that is ruining the experience.
[–]SeveerSeveerio -1 points0 points1 point 11 months ago
I know you shouldn't have to do this but there is a fix for 'the server has timed out' issue, go in to your search bar after pressing your windows key and type services.msc then scroll down to one called SSD discovery or something similar and stop it, this should also stop a service called UPNP device host or somethin and will stop your disconnects. (these settings revert everytime your comp restarts) Edit: if you are unable to stop either service u may need to right click on it and set it to manual and then try stop it again
[–]ZephyrnanoZephyrNano 0 points1 point2 points 11 months ago
Hey, yep I tried that after seeing it on the forum.
It hasn't worked for me, I even turned UPnP off on my router.
Talking to the great people at EA support now....
[–]DarKcSDarKcS 1 point2 points3 points 11 months ago
No change. Still unplayable 64-players.
[–]CubemonkeyNYCCubemonkey 1 point2 points3 points 11 months ago
I've been in a ton of 64 player games without issue. Tehran Highway always has issues, though.
[–]xrisnothingxrisnothing 0 points1 point2 points 11 months ago*
Admins have to install the patch themselves. I installed it 10 minutes ago. My server rubberbanded a lot on Caspian and Teheran Highway. I'm running Caspian right now and it seems improved. The real test, however is Teheran Highway.
edit: Well, Caspian seemed improved slightly. Might just be a coincidence. Teheran, as always, is a nightmare.
[–]hoardhoardlie 1 point2 points3 points 11 months ago
Where is my fix that'll allow my whole squad into the same damn team?
[–]sirius89 1 point2 points3 points 11 months ago
There is still the same amount of rubberbanding.
They didn't fix it at all.
[–]PlusSixtoReason 0 points1 point2 points 11 months ago
All my stats have been reset to zero. I hope this was an expected thing.
[–]IronFarmIronFarm 0 points1 point2 points 11 months ago
They'll be back once the servers are back on.
[–]syMptomsyMptomNZ 0 points1 point2 points 11 months ago
I still have my stats on Blog, but didn't have any unlocks in-game... Is it the same for you?
[–]anderssi 0 points1 point2 points 11 months ago
Where does it say that this maintenance will fix rubber banding?
[–]HungerSTGFxMasterChefx 0 points1 point2 points 11 months ago
OHHHH no wonder I kept getting the "Failed to connect to EA Online" error!
[–]abaxial82Abaxial82 0 points1 point2 points 11 months ago
I assume this didn't fix the hard crashing?
[–]96accordthereal96accord 0 points1 point2 points 11 months ago
I wish I wasn't at work... Or I'd be playing. :D
[–]TriumphOfMan 0 points1 point2 points 11 months ago
still rubber banding, still crashing after map changes.
[–]xolieoHeterolifemate 0 points1 point2 points 11 months ago
If your ping sucks you will get rubber banding.
Now if only we could tell what our ping was.
[–]Voicer -7 points-6 points-5 points 11 months ago
BC2 still has horrible rubber banding almost 2 years after release. Get used to it, it's not going to be fixed.
[–]Moshiach 2 points3 points4 points 11 months ago
I've never experienced any rubber banding issues with BC2
[–]CC440 0 points1 point2 points 11 months ago
It was one of the most reported issues with BC2, they just released a patcy last month for that issue alone.
[–]Voicer -2 points-1 points0 points 11 months ago
It's not as pronounced as BF3's, but it's definitely there. It doesn't seem to happen while the player is moving, but you'll notice it when you stop moving or when you pass through a narrow doorway only to be pulled through the wall back outside.
It happens all the time.
[–]singularity2030 1 point2 points3 points 11 months ago
Never happens to me.
[–]CC440 1 point2 points3 points 11 months ago
They just patched it out one month before BF3's release, it's pretty bullshit if you ask me. If it isn't fixed in the next month, it probably never will be (voip for instance).
BC2 has fantastic netcode, I can play from Europe with friends from North America without any problems whatsoever. I was really impressed by DICE.
[–]Airf0rce 0 points1 point2 points 11 months ago
No it doesn't.
Last time I checked (few months ago) BC2 was running without any lag whatsoever. BF3 on the other hand, every 64 player map lags like shit, Caspian Border being worst.
[–]atlangler 4 points5 points6 points 11 months ago
every 64 player map lags like shit, Caspian Border being worst.
That is far from the truth. I play in nothing but 64 player servers, and I honestly only notice a large amount of rubberbanding on Tehran Highway. And in my experience, Caspian is one of the ones with the least rubberbanding. Canals can sometimes get bad, but it only seems to last for a minute.
[–]Veora 1 point2 points3 points 11 months ago
Echoing the same experience, Caspian is one of the better, Tehran is allmost unplayable.
[–]DougyMDougyAM 0 points1 point2 points 11 months ago
Ill chime in with this too.
I only play 64 player conquest, the best maps for stability are terribly enough the close quarter infantry maps like Metro and Bazaar. Then maps like Canal, Karg, Damavad (whatever its called) and Caspian.
By far and away the worst map is Tehran, i do not know what the problem is but there is not a single 64 player server that runs that without lag.
Interesting.
Might have something to do with me playing mostly in Jets on Caspian as they seem to suffer most from the lag. Tehran Highway is pretty bad map regardless so I try to avoid that one as much as possible.
[–]atlangler 0 points1 point2 points 11 months ago
I honestly never get in the jets, so that is probably the difference.
[–]ride_my_bike 0 points1 point2 points 11 months ago
I had Metro start to rubberband on me last night and that was the last straw. If I could return the game I would, but for now I'm taking a few patches break from BF3 and going back to other games.
[–]Voicer 0 points1 point2 points 11 months ago*
Yes it does. Last time I checked (yesterday), it was still there. The last patch, which was released just a few weeks ago, contained a fix to "improve" rubber banding issues but nobody noticed any difference, just like every other patch they released that claimed to have fixed the issue.
[–]Mugros 0 points1 point2 points 11 months ago
I did notice a big difference, though I could play fine before too.
[–]RonkerjakeProjectJake -3 points-2 points-1 points 11 months ago
TBH I quit listening to DICE during BF2. They publish more crocks of shit than any other game dev.
[–]RDandersen -4 points-3 points-2 points 11 months ago
Thank you for fixing this, DICE. Had you included a colourblind mode, I'm sure that these fixes in a game I had been looking forward to for months would really improve my gaming experience. Guess I'll still not buy the game, though.
[–]Gremmel -4 points-3 points-2 points 11 months ago
Didn't fix anything. I ended up destroying my joystick today trying to lag my way to flares for jets. Unbound my keybinds to all heli and jet controls so I don't get any retarded ideas later and end up breaking something valuable.
FYI haven't broken a controller since I was five, in 1987.... GG "design".
