This is pretty meta. Is it the power of books in general that caused the blowout, or is he reading a book called "The Power of Books"? If that is the book title, did his head explode from the book's power, or was it due to the dearth of power from a poorly written book on the subject?

The knowledge that all books provide were all mixed into one book (The book he is reading) . The overwhelming knowledge that was shoved into his brain caused it to implode. The pressure from the implosion built up and so it burst the skull and pierced the skin. Causing an eruption of blood and brain matter to spread over the white wall. Like an artist with a white canvas...
