You won't. It's a wild animal.

It's a least weasel, also known as a snow weasel.

you could also get a ferret. They look similar, but you can actually have them as pets and get one from a pet store much more easily.

Yeah, an albino ferret will look almost exactly like that and be cute as hell, but it's also a proper domestic animal. For best results raise it with a small dog or a kitten :).

Wrong.

For best results raise it with at least one other ferret... and do LOTS of research beforehand, because they are very expensive animals. Vet bills can be in the thousands for a single year and they are very commonly afflicted with adrenal disease, which requires daily meds!

This. I've had ferrets for the majority of my life, and as much as I'd like to tell everyone "They're the best animal ever, and everyone should have one!" it's simply not true. They are the best pet in my eyes, but they aren't for everyone. They require a lot of patience, and you need to keep up with the cleaning daily. They are a lot of work if you are used to only cleaning out a litter box once a week.

Kittens and ferrets can get along well, but be careful with dogs. If you are going to have a dog in the same household, make sure it is a herding, and not a hunting dog. (I want a corgi for this exact reason. :D)

Also, So_sue_me, I disagree on the pet store idea. Please avoid pet stores when it comes to ferrets. (And all animals, really...) Search Cragislist or your local animal shelter, there are many who are given up because people realize after purchasing that they are a lot of work.

Ferrets and rats share this best pet ever rank in my life too :)

I will add though that some hunting dogs can be great with ferrets, its all in how they have been raised (ie, with other animals, and great caution!) :)

Rats, yes! Absolutely.

And yes, some hunting dogs may work well with ferrets, but I wouldn't suggest it for people inexperienced with ferrets, or proper dog training. (Which unfortunately, I've found a lot of people are pretty poor with.)

why rats? I had a rat in my house and i tried to get rid of it with traps and poison. Why would a rat make a good pet?

First of all, I hate you for trying to poison an innocent animal. But I'll answer your question regardless.

Rats make amazing pets. They're incredibly intelligent, social, and easy to care for. They are incredibly clean, and clean themselves thoroughly several times a day. They do not carry any more diseases than a cat or dog, probably even less as a matter of fact, so if that's part of your reasoning for killing them you need to do a bit of research.

Rats love human affection, just like any cat or dog. (More than cats, typically.) They love to just chill on your shoulder while you are on the computer, or playing games. They are incredibly easy to shoulder train, and personally this is my favorite thing about them.

They live only 2-3 years, which is both a pro and a con. This means you are not jumping into as large of a commitment as a dog or cat, but you'll also get less time with them.

Rats are very affectionate. Once they really start to get attached to you they'll often beg to be held, and will clean your hands or arms, much like the way a dog licks someone out of admiration.

I have been around many rats in my day, my closest friend owned upwards of twelve at one point, and I will note that I have never been bitten by a single one of them. Unlike cats, which bite if you pet them the wrong way.

I could go on and on. Please don't kill an innocent creature because it's trying to be warm and safe inside your home. It isn't "gross" or "diseased".
