I was that house for 10 years -- lived in a small town in the Midwest and we had 300 kids each Halloween, each of whom walked away with a full-size Hershey bar.

This year? Apartment in Phoenix. Expected traffic: Maybe a dozen kids. Spouse won't let me give 'em each a half-pound Hershey bar. :(

We elves try to stick to the four main food groups: candy, candy canes, candy corns and syrup.

You're not allowed to feel that good about anything.. You're a 32 year old man that still goes trick-or-treating.

Yeah, my last name is Ruth, and we've given out ing sized Baby Ruths for as long as I can remember. The kids always remember our house- it's pretty awesome when they're like "Wooooow!". Good feeling. :)

I'm taking my 2 year old son trick or treating in the richest neighborhood in town just for this reason.

As someone who lives in a fairly wealthy neighborhood- ugh. People come in vans, and load up all the kids and dump them in our neighborhood, and I'm cool with that. The kids are always really polite and excited, and it makes you feel good- until you get the parent walking up with the infant. It's bullshit. We all know the candy is for you.

I lived in a nice neighbouhood as a child and those people were the cheapest assholes ever. I can't relate to this.

You're welcome by the way, a simple thank you would have sufficed.
