Would it be so hard to scoot over to a shelter and take some pictures of actual pets in need of adoption? I'm sure there are plenty of cute ones. There are places that would love to have someone help with taking pictures of the adoptable pets, maybe help with the cleaning, socializing, and all the rest. Then you could say, "I volunteer at a shelter and here are some pics of the guys up for adoption. Look at this cute guy! He could be in your lap tomorrow! Look at his smushie face! Oh no, he's going for my neck! Oh wait, he's just giving me kisses."

You'd get legit karma and some cute furball might get adopted because some internet person fell in love with it. Win win.

To the shelter with you for legit karma.

I'd go but my allergies would kick in and there's nothing cute about someone spaz-sneezing and dribbling all over the place. Plus, I tend to startle cats.
