No doubt. I was looking at the original picture and was wondering where the water would go if there were waterfalls on all sides. And were those clouds in the background? Is this up in a mountain somewhere.

Something I've always wanted to do, take a two or three day trip. Day 1, start in Astoria, end in Lincoln City. Day two, start in Lincoln city, stop in maybe Coos Bay, North Bend, Day three, Start in Coos Bay / North Bend, stop at the California border. All three days, stop at EVERYTHING that looks interesting.

I grew up on the Southern Oregon coast, and it is absolutely beautiful there (downside is all the rain that helps keep it that way). I might actually recommend driving a little south of the border, maybe to Orick on 101, the redwoods through there and the ocean views are stunning. But yeah, that drive would be amazing and there are a lot of cool little towns along the way. Slugs 'n' Stones in Brookings is a must stop, has the best ice cream and is definitely a quirk, lol

I recently did a week long adventure similar to your idea, except I started on the Californian coast, drove up the Oregon coast, finished up in Portland and drove back down the 5. Really gorgeous trip.

Then you have to stop here in Eugene Oregon. Doesn't get more interesting than this. We have more Meth addicts per square foot, but it's looked at as being a "Diverse City" that way.... Ugh, makes me sick.

I've lived in both places (currently in Eugene) and my verdict is that Portland has wayyy more meth addicts, especially out in the west burbs where I am from.

If you're talking Springfield though...yeap, all meth addicts.

And on another note, I've done the whole 101 from the northern Oregon coast all the way down to Southern California. Seriously awesome.

Sorry, wasn't aware you were an oregonian already. I only consider Eugene close to the coast since it's an hour a way and I go there way too often. But yeah, portland scares me with it's homeless people wielding blades. (That sentence spawns from an actual encounter I had by the burnside bridge once... scary times.)
