In University I was assigned to a group in order to complete a research proposal. As I was introducing myself to the group, one of the members says:

"You know, I really hate reading. I don't think I have ever read a book all the way through before!"

I agree. I absolutely HATE when slavery is ever brought up as a topic in today's society. It is LITERALLY (sorry parks and rec is on right now) a dead topic. Not ONE SINGLE PERSON ALIVE TODAY has been hurt by slavery. Slavery is far too old a topic to even be sort of relevant today. The book itself is kinda overrated and anyone that tries to say slavery has affected them in ANY way at all is lying to themselves.
