It depends on how you lurk. I only view front page and am subscribed to an extensive number of subreddits. If you actually visit /r/gifs, you would be exponentially more likely to see it. I don't, and a lot of people don't. This is the first time I've actually seen it on my front page, and I visit daily, and have been here for over a year.
