Rules

  1. No screenshots, or pictures with added or superimposed text. This includes image macros, comics, info-graphics and most diagrams. Text (e.g. a URL) serving to credit the original author is exempt.

  2. No gore or porn. NSFW content must be tagged.

  3. No personal information. This includes anything hosted on Facebook's servers, as they can be traced to the original account holder. Stalking & harassment will not be tolerated.

  4. No solicitation of votes (including "cake day" posts), posts with their sole purpose being to communicate with another redditor, or [FIXED] posts. DAE posts go in /r/DoesAnybodyElse. "Fixed" posts should be added as a comment to the original image.

Its funny because Sid has health insurance, whereas Andy is about to got head over heels into debt.

In the end, Sid's the real winner. He forgot about the toys and became a productive member of society. Meanwhile, Andy still has his old toys and struggles to give them away.

Being a CEO must be a hellish nightmarescape of grotesque misery, then...

[–]stdtm 72 points73 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Even though it might not be literally hellish, being a CEO is still an incredibly demanding and stressful job. You're personally responsible for the well-being of an entire corporation, including its workers and its stockholders. There's a reason most CEOs only stay in the position for a couple years.

[–]CFGX 139 points140 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

I've never understood the blind CEO hate. A lot of them literally kill themselves over how much responsibility is put on them. Sure, there's bad apples. But what job doesn't have those?

[–][deleted] 94 points95 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

You just...defended CEOs on reddit. And your comment has positive karma. Satan just bought a winter coat.

[–]CFGX 42 points43 points ago

I know, I crawled under my desk and everything. All the sensationalist crowd from r/politics must be asleep.

[–]Sir_Knumskull 1 point2 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

A lot of assumptions there. Just because Satan buys a winter coat doesn't mean that there will be snow in hell. Maybe he just likes shopping, or is going on a vacation to some place colder.

[–]CptBlu 13 points14 points ago

A lot of them literally kill themselves over how much responsibility is put on them. Sure, there's bad apples. But what job doesn't have those?

I hear the position is so taxing, it's practically cancerous.

[–]stdtm 18 points19 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

This. For every CEO you hear about on the news who embezzled, or is getting a ridiculous bonus, there are hundreds or thousands who are just working as hard as they can to do their job.

[–]Kadx 2 points3 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

I see what you did there :)

[–]Oreo_Speedwagon 1 point2 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

We could both give examples of the "bad apples". Who are the good apples?

In the end, a CEO is beholden only to its board of directors, and to an extend, stock-holders. They are obligated to do nothing for their workers, the nation, their customers, etc. beyond improved bottom line.

Also, as someone who worked construction for six years, I somehow doubt they "kill themselves" as much as those who make the least do.

I might agree with you if CEOs didnt skip from one company to the next, collecting massive bonuses for short term profits at the end of every contract...

[–]IkastI 1 point2 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

While working at one hospital for four years, I saw three CEOs in place. The hospital sucks and was one of the worst places I've worked, even after the burger flipping job I had as a kid.

Anyway, side story: CEO Dominic would hold meetings and show us information from satisfaction surveys. He'd show how many people were dissatisfied, which was a nice chunk of the pie. When he discussed those who were "very dissatisfied" he told us "These are the people we're getting rid of. If they can't come to work with a positive attitude, then goodbye." haha. What a joker.

I think in the end Andy will be the winner. He's going to college on his own dime. He'll get a good education, and help the world with all his billions he earns from his new technology corporation. It's all there in Toy Story 14.

I'm from the future.

Maybe so, I know how reddit tends to be pro-science/technology/engineering, and that's fine. However, I'm just one of those people who believes its not what degree you get, but instead what you do with it. I just applied what I learnt from that degree(mainly media production) and went wild with freelancing work, then I finally got noticed and picked up in audio editing. :). If you're passionate for it, one can make it work.

It's considered one of the easiest majors you can get in college and so a lot of people go into it because they're going to college to go to college. Sure, you can make a living with the degree, but there's a disproportionate amount of mental....inadequacies in that major as well.

[–]Joon01 12 points13 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Enjoy what you study. But if you think there aren't a ton of broke-ass people with science degrees who can't land a job, you're deluding yourself.

Redditors often seem to make the mistake of thinking sciences degrees are some golden bastion of lucrative employability while humanities degrees are for working at Starbucks.

If you're just joking, whatever. But I get the feeling that a lot of people are both overestimating how much a BS is valued and devaluing a BA. I'm glad for the contributions of people from all sectors of education and it's hard times all around.

Never understood the hate for Sid. He was creative, making his own toys out of the parts of others, which I personally thought looked badass. It's not like he was killing animals. He was blowing up inanimate objects as part of his play story lines, which is pretty cool. It was a little over the top on Woody's part to totally mind-fuck this kid when, in reality, Sid had no idea he was doing anything wrong.

EDIT: I can't believe I have to clarify this, but when I said he was blowing up inanimate objects, I meant that he was blowing up toys, which he clearly believed were inanimate, because why wouldn't they be? It's not his fault he didn't realize he was living in a universe where plastic and cloth can come to life, feel fear, feel pain and die.

It's funny but for some reason all garbage men look like Charlie Sheen and Emelio Estevez

I think I watched that movie too many times when I was younger.

EDIT: The movie is "Men at Work".

[–]Ohtanks 5 points6 points ago

Garbage collectors can make over 100k a year. Multiple Garbage Man AMAs (in NYC, granted) have said that in a somewhat hard winter, it's easy for garbagemen to collect more than 100k/year. Plus they find many treasures that people accidentally or stupidly throw away (one guy said he found sapphire earrings or something, and has found an HDTV).

What really upsets me is that this is all eventually going to come to an end, when Buy n' Large takes over the entire planet and turns Earth into a giant trash heap. Will Andy be part of the movement trying to stop Buy n' Large from destroying the earth, or will be graduate college and help destroy the planet?

Heck, will Woody, Buzz, Rex, etc. end up being devoured by a WALL-E type robot? Or will they meet their ultimate fate at an incinerator, but for real?

Fucking trolls, putting the truck in every Pixar movie except Incredibles.

[–]woofdg79 7 points8 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

There was a reason for that, but I can't remember why it was. I wanna say it had something to do with the director being new Pixar and some weird shenanigans, or .... something.

[–]JustARegularGuy 4 points5 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

I can't find a source to back this up, but I remember reading the truck is actually in The Incredibles. Brad Bird didn't want to put it in the movie, so as a compromise they used it to render a blur on the side of an oil tanker.

I think the main reason it is not used in the film is because the Incredibles is set in the 60's, before the Pizza Planet truck would have existed.

They have the same voice actor too. It is, in fact, supposed to be the same guy. (IMDB links for original and 3)

Also, college Andy is the same voice actor as kid Andy from the first two. Since, you know, he's older now. Pixar really had fun having a voice actor reunion for Toy Story 3.

Sid is actually in the credits at the end. His name is, I mean, and the voice actor who made the noises for him. That's how I figured it out. That, and the fact that I was an usher at the theater, and had to watch the end credits over and over again.

[–]ptbus0 1 point2 points ago
