One of my highschool teachers did something like this. He had a brick-sized piece of styrofoam wrapped up in tin foil that he'd lift up like it was real heavy, then throw at a student.

They sell these at the National Geographic shop on Regent Street in London. For one of the large ones, you are looking at the best part of £3k. They are awesome but just astronomically expensive. You may as well just buy an actual rock and cover it in felt.
