It's funny because this is a repost and the image is bashing recycling of content.

TV TROPES ALERT:

http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/DreamworksFace

What's that, Pixar does the same thing?

And Dreamworks has been making kickass movies?

This is old, stupid reposted content?

To be fair the first pixar movie i noticed there was an example of this face was Cars, which never really happened. (it was so bad wow)

Right, but it's not a "Dreamworks thing". Buzz Lightyear did it as well. It's a common advertising tactic that is used at large in the movie industry.

Indeed; once you start drawing (or even just looking closely at) cartoon faces, you realize there's only so many expressions they can actually make, and the cocked grin is just one of the regular ones. Nothing special.

I'm a little sick of the WARNING TV TROPES meme.

Madagascar, Shrek, and Kung Fu Panda are all amazing movies.

I thought Kung Fu Panda 2 was more aesthetically pleasing and had a much better developed plot than the first one.

A lot of dreamworks movies are terrible, most of their sequels even more so

Pixar has only made one bad movie, and that was cars 2

Someone works for Pixar..

Shrek was a stroke of genius.

Seriously, watching it a month ago, it was so mature and the message was legitimate. It's very funny, even for adults

The original Shrek, it was on TV, I can't say much for the sequels. The second one was decent and I haven't seem anything past that

Agreed, that one was just as good or better than Pixar's films in my opinion.

Most of the time, I like my Pixar flicks (What the hell was Cars 2?) but How to Train Your Dragon was better than anything Pixar has shown me thus far.

I did not care for that film... No clue why. All my friends like it and I was even obsessed with dragons all throughout childhood.

EDIT: I realized that by saying I don't know why I didn't like this film discredits my username. So without further ado:

I feel as if the main character's ability to "calm" the dragons called upon the audience to just accept that he has a gift without providing any reason for it. Most people will say, well you are already suspending disbelief because DRAGONS. And to that I say, yes but there is no reason for me to accept that a lack of initial story structure should be sacrificed just because there are mythical creatures in this movie.

Although, I'm usually willing to take certain leaps of faith if the rest of the film is fun to watch. However, even at the ending --SPOILER ALERT-- the giant "mama" dragon story arc seemed pretty contrived to me. A whole nest of dragons responding to the beck and call of a head dragon sounds like a queen bee scenario. And without a queen bee, a nest can't operate. I take it these dragons were just enslaved by some giant monster dragon, and killing the monster freed the nest? The explanation the movie gave wasn't fully fleshed out enough.

But even if a movie has several plot elements that I don't think fit together, I'll look past them if a movie like this was funny. But I suppose all in all I didn't think this movie was funny. That's the main gripe here.

Although I like that the main character --SPOILER ALERT-- continued to live a happy life without a leg/foot.

I can't be dead inside because I just read this top comment by "seeneverything" and I got pretty choked up.

And thank you for linking to the music, this is a pretty fabulous song that I must have overlooked. Fantastic "viking" music with Irish undertones, truly epic.

I certainly didn't hate the movie by any stretch; I just didn't adore it like everyone else seems to.

This reminds me of my Batman Begins dilemma. That movie just wasn't that special to me. Didn't care for it much. However, The Dark Knight is and always will be an all time favorite. Shrug.

I fall for movies with scenes that make my jaw drop and forget where I am, moments where the cinematic magic is almost palpable in the air, like you could reach out and shake the characters hands and say "I'm with you 100% here."

I just don't think the dragon's emotions were portrayed well enough for me to care about them personally, although I think the point of the movie was that you were supposed to care about them. That's all, obviously we are having a difference of opinion which is completely normal.

I hate the "bad poker face" from rage comics because it looks too much like the dreamworks face.

Dreamworks Animation just won the rights to Captain Underpants. I'm kind of shuddering imagining the poster.

To be fair...

let's make a movie about a orphaned panda, whose dad is a noodle shop owning goose and ends up being the prophesied dragon warrior saving the valley and kung fu

Sorry, I find value in both animation studios. While pixar has more and better movies, dreamworks isn't far behind. And Over the Hedge is probably my favorite animated film ever.
