Absolutely! Also, being caught with up to an ounce of bud has no penalties or fines. Up to 4 ounces and you're looking at a 1k fine and 90 days in jail. Not bad compared to other states. Possession of less than 25 plants is protected under the Alaska Constitution's right to privacy. Hell, check out the NORML page!

i really hope this isn't another miracle trick off a forum that isn't actually a miracle trick. the only effective method i've ever found is to keep the closet door shut during the last few weeks. you sacrifice a few degrees in the room for not having all your neighbors know something's up.

While the ONA bucket works, I would not suggest merely 'shutting the door'. You lose yield from depriving plants of CO2 from fresh air flow. After a while, your nose adjusts to cannabis in the house so you don't notice it. Just 'shutting the door' will not help non-ents smelling you out. Granted a carbon filter works wonders in comparison to an ONA bucket, but going with out some sort of odour neutraliser in place is just asking for trouble.

no, i'm not talking about my own house. (although it does actually keep the smell to a "not sure if that's just 2 hour old weed smoke" level)
i'll sacrifice yield all day every day to avoid prison. i've got a guy next door who i strongly suspect to be a former cop and i'm pretty sure that when it reeks in here, it reeks in his place and my downstairs neighbor's place, too. i can smell it when she smokes downstairs, and my friend who used to live in this building could smell cigarettes from his next door neighbor. that suggests that opening the door to keep the temperature down and co2 levels up is causing me to run about a 5x greater risk of jail just for a few grams.
you're trying to tell me you'd stink up all adjacent apartments to get a better yield? i want to move to your building.

Without using some method of odour control, you are already placing yourself at risk. The loss of yield is just the frosting on the nugget. Get a filter or some ona, have a better yield and be worry free.

yeah but like i said, the smell was no problem at all with the door closed. i could keep "treetop level" at 82F with the door open, and 87-89F with the door closed.
with the closet door open, you could smell that unmistakable smell when you got to within 3ft of my front door. with the door closed, you might detect a smell once you're already inside the house, but it wasn't obvious.
so i'd say a 5-7 degree increase in grow room temps is a much better tradeoff than risking prison. (in case you didn't read what i said, scrubbers don't work that well.)

so check your own bullshit before spreading that muck around.
If you are on the top floor cut a whole in the ceiling and vent into the eaves. The smell will come out from the peak of the roof. Also run your lights and fan at night when it's cooler and there are less people around. If you are that paranoid, grow a low odor strain. My trainwreck is barely noticeable, but the chemdog makes my whole apartment smell like two skunks fucking if I bump it.

there are plenty of how-to's for DIY carbon scrubbers. Put one on the output of an extraction fan and you will be odor free.
Honestly, it's really fucking amazing how well they work yet how simple they are. you will be Odor-free!
ehh, kind of untrue. i've used a couple homemade ones and my friend got a little obsessed with it and made several and ran them at once. it did not help the smell enough to even alleviate odor-paranoia, much less to claim it's "odor-free."

I would be happy to post pictures of my design and even a picture of the carbon I used. It was an investment at about $200 .. but I wouldn't have said what I said to you, my fellow ent, if I did not truely believe it! I swear to you it was completely odor free! And I'd be happy to blaze up my own grow closet while you stand in my bedroom where the exhaust air flows.
I did kind of over-engineer mine .. but I planned to keep it for a long time. I used it for 2 grows over the course of 90 days so far, 24/7 air flow powered by a modified air purifier double squirrel cage blower .. and it's still going strong. Truly amazing .. letme know if you want pics / info on my successful implementation to aid your growing :)

Just wanted to forewarn everybody, the police can place an add on craigslist saying "selling some green" and if you reply with interest they can arrest you. That is not entrapment, and you can be convicted for this.
I don't know if this is regularly done by police, but I just wanted to throw it out there so everyone knows the law.

attempting to buy a small sack of weed isn't a huge crime in practically any state, even the ones where weed isn't tolerated well. that's a lot of effort on the part of police to catch something that even the dumbest cop realizes is common and harmless.
there's a risk, true, but if any person is able to sell on craigslist and doesn't get busted, what makes you think they'd go for some random kid trying to buy weed instead of busting the dealers? that's actually the m.o. of the cops in most situations, arrest the dealer not the buyer if possible. they like to arrest buyers to get to dealers, but cuffing you for buying an eighth isn't their main priority.

In some places, like Chicago, the police have gone on record that they are instituting a 'broken windows' policy. They believe that tolerating small crimes leads to more serious crimes, so they treat even minor offences very seriously.
I don't agree with that logic, but that is what they think.
well, first off, "going on record" is a far cry from "actually doing shit."
cops practice politics just like everyone else in any field where you must be one ruthless ass-kisser to advance. if you want a career at a high level officer you've got to play the game. somebody with political clout has a son that gets arrested for weed possession and freaks out a little? the chief gets his ass busted, then he passes it down to his deputies, then some major somewhere gets his ass chewed out because they aren't doing enough to stop this shit. a press conference is called and whoever is feeling the heat gets up and promises that it's all about to end, just you wait, the police will have this taken care of in no time flat.
but in reality they aren't doing anything too differently from how they normally behave. decent cops know that you bust big crimes, not small crimes, so this "let's bust small shit" is usually a political move from the top, not a serious response to a serious problem.
yes and add to that the fact that most police groups around our nation are running in low-budget mode thanks to the economy. So they literally have less time to fuck with the small folks even if they wanted to

yeah that's what i'm saying. i have personally been caught (or all but caught) with weed several times throughout the years and never been taken to jail for it. i know it happens, but it's not like there's a cop behind every corner who is just itching to catch a whiff of herb so he can crack hippie skulls.
if your local police department cares a little more about herb, i'd say that you shouldn't live in such a socially conservative place to begin with if you're surrounded by people who will pressure the cops to bust stoners instead of going after a whole newspaper column worth of thefts each day that never get solved.

Sounds like you may need to make some new frients. Just start conversations with anyone you see smoking a cigarette - you've got about a 50% they're a tree smoker (in my experience and according to Gallup) so at that point it doesn't take much to find a connect.

There's a pretty big difference between 'supporting legalization' and actually smoking trees.
if someone has made the choice to get themselves addicted to cigarettes, it usually means they get fucked up fairly regularly or at least used to.
think about it, and i think you'll realize it's true. just try to think about people you know who smoke cigarettes and don't drink or smoke anything else and never have. i don't know many people in that category. it's a safe bet that if they're smoking a cigarette, they've at least got a friend who smokes weed on the weekends. it's a way better shot than asking random people in a mcdonalds lobby until you score. (i have hung out with a friend who was trying this. it actually works, but is extremely sketchy.)

Happened to me a while back when my only friend who got really good weed stopped dealing. Not only did he stop dealing, but he stopped having any sort of connection with the guy who he bought his shit from, as the guy was an scumbag who was nothing but trouble.
That was about three years ago and I've been dry ever since. I mean, if I really, really wanted to I could find some okay stuff but after smoking trees that would get you to a five in a hit and a half, you never really want to go back to mids.
There's other really good weed out there. You've just got to look for it. I know two different guys who have shit shipped across the country from colorado and california respectively. Medical grade, the shit you find in dispensaries. And i live in florida. And hell, some of the local crop is almost as good. Shit's everywhere, keep looking. And if you can't find any good bud, look for some hash.

this isn't the worst advice i've ever heard.
i had a class with a guy who is probably the most obvious stoner i've ever seen at my school, and we got to talking in lab one day. he's a delivery driver for papa john's, and said his main reason for working there is to deal. apparently enough people know the method that they're able to sell a decent bit while working.
he said all you have to do is call and ask for a specific delivery guy by name and they usually know what you mean. you can just outright tell them how much you want and the guy will bring it with the pizza. i didn't believe him, but then i met people who had done it. crazy shit, sometimes.
and i worked as a delivery driver for a couple months myself, and i can confirm that a large number of people smoke weed and the only thing that stops people from knowing is that everyone is generally paranoid about it. you'd be surprised how someone loosens up when you say "smells good, is that anything special or just your average nug or what?" which then opens the door for "so my dealer has been out for 2 weeks. hook a brotha up?"
