As previously mentioned, this is from an episode of How I Met Your Mother. Ted is the main character of the show. He's an architect. In one season, a large company hires Ted's firm to design a skyscraper. The black guy in the gif is the head of that large company.

Ted's boss is an idiot. Fun fact: Ted's boss is played by Bryan Cranston. Anyway, Ted's boss designs a building that looks like a penis, tip pointed up at the sky. Then makes a scale model of it. Clearly, Ted's boss isn't seeing the phallic nature of his building design. Furthermore, none of the other employees mention to their boss that the building looks like a penis because they're afraid displeasing the boss will get them fired.

Ted's boss covers the penis-shaped building model with a veil. One day the client (the black guy) visits the firm to see the progress of the building design. He sits down in front of the covered scale model. Ted's boss unveils it. The client looks at it for about one second before exclaiming, "That's a penis!" That is the gif you see. Good day to you, sir.

I felt the movie made sense on its own. Sure, you missed origin stories, especially the original group, and there was plenty more to know about Rorschach, and maybe it took a couple of times watching for it all to make sense, (because there's so many characters and their own personal plotlines and goals).

It's possible the movie made sense to me because I knew the story already, but I think it stuck to the root of the graphic novel pretty well, and what was lost was lost.

See, I have only seen the director's cut and to me there is constantly things from the book thrown into the movie with no explanation.

Also, Rorschach and the Comedian are my favourite characters and I hate how they are portrayed in the movie. It doesn't matter though, I know what I'm doing saturday morning.

That's about it, really. You can show all the violence you like in a movie here and nobody really notices or cares too much.. but sexuality and the naked human body? Everyone is busting out the eye-bleach. It's a little backwards, really. I think also that a lot of guys are insecure and just get uncomfortable seeing another man's penis.. even a CGI one that's only shown out of focus for about ten seconds total. From the way some dudes talk about it, you'd think the entire three hour movie was nothing but closeups shots of swinging blue dick.

I agree... it is silly how many movies there are with fully naked women in them, but hardly any male nudity at all. I am not a fan of staring at other men's junk, mind you... but it is more than a little sexist to let something like this bother you too much after watching literally dozens of movies with female nudity and absolutely no penis whatsoever. Girls should get to have some eye candy too!

When I went to see it in theaters there were three high school kids in front of me. I'm going to stereotype here and say they were probably football or lacrosse players or something; backwards tan hats, polo shirts and khakis, had that "pre-bro before college" kind of vibe.

Anyway, the first time Dr. Manhattan showed up fully nude, they burst out laughing. They did it a second and a third time. Each time after that the kid in the middle would raise his arms up, signaling a "Oh come on!" or "For the love of God!" kind of reaction. He looked so defeated at the end of the movie.
