I get that HRO is satire and that making what is effectively a tabloid focused on indie culture and using insane amounts of scare quotes and text-speak and putting "bro" on everything as a shallow attempt to suffuse every word with irony is, in itself a meta-criticism of the tendency for "hipsters" to use irony to disaffect themselves and make it look like they really don't care as much about superficial things like status and celebrity as they do (I think...?), but that doesn't make it any less infuriating to read. I always leave that site with this terrible suspicion that, for a non-negligible proportion of HRO's readership, the satirical element goes completely over their heads, and they read it as an indie tabloid and learn how to be grotesquely pretentious and catty from it. Gotta hand it to Carles, though. Bro knows how to commit to a shtick.
