I've written this a few times on the exact same picture posted elsewhere but I'll write it here too.

This behavior is called a submissive smile. The hunched posture, depressed ears, and lips turned up are the dog signalling that the individual it's interacting with is the alpha or superior. It's a common behavior seen in abused dogs. Common but not conclusive. It's possible that this dog had experienced violent interactions with this individual before, not necessarily physical. It could be even just violent verbal encounters and intimidation or rough handling. Also since the poster says it happens every morning, it's likely that the dog has a routine, an attempt at keeping the peace. It doesn't understand that this behavior pisses the guy off more and the continued anger and disdain only reinforces the routine.*

*My interpretation of this is also based on the poster's apparent hatred for the animal. It could be that the poster is inflating their anger towards the dog in an attempt to get a rise out of the other users or put up a more alpha image for them. If that's the case, there are loads more reasons a dog could act like this but the body language still reads the same. My guess takes it at face value.

It's when things like this are posted that I am embarrassed of this site. You know today is Spirit Day, right? A day where you recognize bullying against young people and the use of derogatory words that reflect hate against the gay community. So what exactly makes the term "faggot" such a funny element of the picture? What's the difference between saying this and using another stereotype? I am deeply offended that this is seen as humor. Maybe if you were called "faggot" every once in a while, or your friends were beaten up for being "faggots" you would no longer find it such a funny term. For a site that in general seems to support equality this is stupid shit and I find people that think this is hilarious to be the type of person who think it's ok to teach their kids that using such words is acceptable.

I'm new to reddit and mostly find hanging about here to be a highly enjoyable and even informative experience; but, I'm curious about all the re-post hate. I always wonder why anyone would feel so strongly about seeing an image, or joke, or whatever again, that they'd feel the need to angrily rant about it in a comment. Why not just NOT look at it, or look at it and just get on with your day as if it never happened if you aren't interested? This behavior is so rampant that I often wonder if something is wrong with ME- should I be freaking out about re-posts as well? Am I doing the interwebs wrong? My aunt's dog starts "laughing"/baring her teeth when she's excited about seeing you. I do think this dogs looks a little scared however... It's all hunched up on the stairs - if a dog is happy, it runs around you and tries to jump on you. That's my experience anyway...

I laugh uncontrollably when I look at this picture. When I first found this image, I started sending it to my friend every day for a week. After that week was up, I decided I had to be more creative, as I figured he was no longer blindly clicking on my links. So as a way to trick him, I uploaded the picture to facebook and tagged him in it. Another way was I made it into a spray and used it in a game of Left 4 Dead and I sprayed it on the first stairwell in No Mercy. I think I need to make a GIF now with a seemingly innocent picture first, then it turns into the grinning dog :-)
