A place to share interesting photographs and pictures. Feel free to post your own, but please read the rules first (see below), and note that we are not a catch-all for general images (of screenshots, comics, etc.)

Spoiler code

Please mark spoilers like this:

Hover over to read.

Rules

  1. No screenshots, or pictures with added or superimposed text. This includes image macros, comics, info-graphics and most diagrams. Text (e.g. a URL) serving to credit the original author is exempt.

  2. No gore or porn. NSFW content must be tagged.

  3. No personal information. This includes anything hosted on Facebook's servers, as they can be traced to the original account holder. Stalking & harassment will not be tolerated.

  4. No solicitation of votes (including "cake day" posts), posts with their sole purpose being to communicate with another redditor, or [FIXED] posts. DAE posts go in /r/DoesAnybodyElse. "Fixed" posts should be added as a comment to the original image.

  5. Submissions must link directly to a specific image file or to an image hosting website with minimal ads. We do not allow blog hosting of images ("blogspam"), but links to albums on image hosting websites are okay. URL shorteners are prohibited.

  • If your submission appears to be filtered but definitely meets the above rules, please send us a message with a link to the comments section of your post (not a direct link to the image). Don't delete it as that just makes the filter hate you!

  • If you come across any rule violations, please report the submission or message the mods and one of us will remove it!

Please also try to come up with original post titles. Submissions that use certain clichés/memes will be automatically tagged with a warning.

Don't forget calvin and hobbes and harry potter novels, fuck yeah, wow such a nostalgia rush. My parents only gave me a couple bucks, all I could afford was a stupid pencil topper most of the time. Mo'fuckin clifford pencil topper up in this biatch.

Kids young enough to have read these are now browsing Reddit? I guess I can expect "does anyone remember this guy?" posts with Blues Clues soon.

[–]SophisticatedVagrant 8 points9 points ago

I would have been 9 when they started coming out. I am now 23. How old do you feel now? :P

[–]GaryDuder -2 points-1 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Fuck you man. Seriously. IT'LL HAPPEN TO YOU!

And guess what, old-young guy? The stuff that you'll say, "What? They're nostalgic about that?" is going to be super lame. You're the last generation with mildly cool things like Pokemon and Captain Underpants and Pixar movies. You're going to see the 23 year olds of the future posting ... you're just ... you're going to be tired of feces-covered vaginas, that's all I'm saying. May god have mercy on your soul.

True story: in Year 7 we had to write a book report, and I totally forgot it was due the next day, so I picked up this book from the library, read it in 2 hours, and wrote the speediest book report known to man.

Unfortunately my grade on that particular report was less than satisfactory >_>

Posts like this make me question the Avg. age of Reddit...

These "novels" weren't around when I was a kid. My 8 yr. old likes them, though.

How do you snap a tenticle?

[–]jesuskhrist 5 points6 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

The first of these books came out in 1997 so technically if you did read them as a kid, you are still a kid. All y'all talking about feeling old... At least wait until you're in your twenties before discussing feeling nostalgic.

[–]SophisticatedVagrant 9 points10 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

I'm 23 now and I was 9 when the first book came out.

[–]TestSubject19 4 points5 points ago*

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Do you understand how time works?

This came out in 1997, which is 14 years ago - So as long as anyone was 6 or older when they read it, then they would be in their twenties now.

[–]Perryn -4 points-3 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Yes. A kid.

[–]TestSubject19 2 points3 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Did you even read his post?

At least wait until you're in your twenties before discussing feeling nostalgic.

Which is why I said that.

Also, someone in their twenties is not a kid.

[–]Son_of_a_Vandrook 2 points3 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Also, someone in their twenties is not a kid.

Nice try, kid.

[–]hjrdmh 2 points3 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

I'm in my 20s and anybody in their 20s is a kid.

[–]TestSubject19 1 point2 points ago*

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

I disagree. Although I understand that people in their twenties could still be immature if thats what you're referring to, but then you get idiots and immature people at all ages.

Kid is synonymous with child - meaning someone under the legal age of majority - which is 18 in most countries. If you're in your twenties, you aren't a kid or a child, you aren't a minor, you're an adult.

[–]hjrdmh 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

If I'm being honest I don't remember posting that. I mean, I did, but... you know. I'm going to go ahead and recuse myself from this conversation on the basis that I don't care about the subject matter. Best leave this case to more impassioned minds than mine.

Respectfully, and with love for my fellow man. Have a wonderful day.

[–]Perryn 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

I'm seeing a lot of upset kids downvoting.

Simple version: Unless you are lucky enough to become very old, there will always be people who get to call you a kid.

[–]TankorSmash 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child defines a child as "a human being below the age of 18 years unless under the law applicable to the child, majority is attained earlier".

Listen man, just because someone told you you were a kid your entire life, doesn't mean you should too. Sure it feels good to have a chance to put a younger generation in a position of inferiority, based solely on their age, but is that fair?

Grow up and quit it.

*Disclaimer:I've'still'got'most'of'my'life'ahead'of'me

[–]Perryn 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Never said child, I said kid. One of my definitions of a kid is someone who gets really riled up when called one.

[–]TankorSmash 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

I should've clarified that I first searched define:kid, and it led me to the child definition through wikipedia.

Do I see some passive-aggression? Smooth man, you're real smooth.

But you didn't try to respond to my argument, which was that you're just continuing the trend. Think for yourself instead of just blindly doing what others did to you. A real man thinks through things and doesn't get an ego boost of any measure from just belittling someone younger than him.

[–]Perryn -1 points0 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

I'd point out how you're just proving what I stated, but you'd just claim it was more passive aggressive belittling. In any case I'm going to bed, so here's your chance to either let it go or get in the last word. I leave it to you.

[–]TankorSmash 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

I'm going to have to jump at the opportunity to have the last word I guess.

You have failed to argue my point at all. I'm not sure how my being a kid somehow absolves you from what you are doing to the younger guys, but it seems like you can't even admit that you're doing it. Or rather you don't seem willing to do this bit of introspection here and can't help but keep it up, despite the fact that it just makes you look arrogant.

Anyways I'm done, it's obvious the kind of person I'm dealing with here. If you can't even engage it a decent discussion without resorting to passive aggression I'm not sure you're worth my time, and I don't care to keep it up. Have a good one, the ball's back in your court.

I remember one of the themes the book had was Flip-o-vision where 2 pages would have alternating frames that you could flip quickly to create an animation. An example I remember is this giant robot punching a building if I remember right. Dang, these books were awesome.

They actually got me into drawing comics. I would draw my own Captain Underpants comics and then copy them using my Dad's Copy/Faxer so they looked more comic-like I suppose and would give my friends free copies instead of charging them the 5cent cover price that it was 'supposed' to be, haha.
