Why was I not surprised at that happening at UCSB. But let me say this, like 90% of the people who do stupid shit during halloween at UCSB are not local students. They are mostly out of towners who come and fuck our town up. In response to this the cops and such are trying to shutdown the street parties and such and encourage UCSB residents to lock up.

I agree 100%. I went to UCSB from 01 - 04. Every halloween the main problems I heard of were from non locals. How do they expect residents to lock up? Do houses on DP even have locks? :)

Haha. They became really strict on music during the halloween weekend, banning it pretty much 24/7. So if you play music cops will bust in on you and force you to lock up. This pretty much killed the house party scene during Halloween. So most locals dont really bother with it anymore cause they know the party has been kinda killed. As a local I actually avoid UCSB during the halloween weekend just cause its not worth the trouble. Id rather kick back with some friends with beer and play some games or chat.

You can watch from your balcony but they will come to shut down your music. Last year when I walked the streets of IV on halloween I didnt hear music from a single house, except one house that had live music from a rock band going on, but they got shut down pretty quick. Also if you didnt know, now they have lots and lots of foot patrol teams and mounted officers on horses, and they put tons of giant sky lights on the street to illuminate the crowds. Its gone from simple fun with costumes to some crazy police distopia.
