Looking for an image subreddit with minimal rules? Check out /r/images

A place to share interesting photographs and pictures. Feel free to post your own, but please read the rules first (see below), and note that we are not a catch-all for general images (of screenshots, comics, etc.)

Spoiler code

Please mark spoilers like this:
[text here](/spoiler)

Hover over to read.

Rules

  1. No screenshots, or pictures with added or superimposed text. This includes image macros, comics, info-graphics and most diagrams. Text (e.g. a URL) serving to credit the original author is exempt.

  2. No gore or porn. NSFW content must be tagged.

  3. No personal information. This includes anything hosted on Facebook's servers, as they can be traced to the original account holder. Stalking & harassment will not be tolerated.

  4. No solicitation of votes (including "cake day" posts), posts with their sole purpose being to communicate with another redditor, or [FIXED] posts. DAE posts go in /r/DoesAnybodyElse. "Fixed" posts should be added as a comment to the original image.

  5. Submissions must link directly to a specific image file or to an image hosting website with minimal ads. We do not allow blog hosting of images ("blogspam"), but links to albums on image hosting websites are okay. URL shorteners are prohibited.

  • If your submission appears to be filtered but definitely meets the above rules, please send us a message with a link to the comments section of your post (not a direct link to the image). Don't delete it as that just makes the filter hate you!

  • If you come across any rule violations, please report the submission or message the mods and one of us will remove it!

Please also try to come up with original post titles. Submissions that use certain clichés/memes will be automatically tagged with a warning.

As an 85' baby, you did good. But you forgot something. But there's always "Next time Gadget, next time".

This has been posted on Reddit so much that it doesn't even count as nostalgia anymore.

Colored Oregon Trail?
I never knew such thing existed.
I only ever played it on a green screen on an Apple II.
Even the downloaded copy I got a few years ago was black and white.

I loved getting to play Oregon trail at school.

I did nothing but hunt the entire time I played.

[–]bluebledthesea 1 point2 points ago

These things are always strange to me because I watched most of them, but there's a cutoff where I stop being familiar with the shows. 1982, so I guess I straddle the 80s and 90s.

85'. Realizing that I did miss my shot at Nick game shows really depressed me for a few. I would have kick ass in Legends of the Hidden Temple, or Double Dare!

Anyone remember Wild and Crazy Kids with Omar Gooding? I recall this episode that was very different from the rest. I remember there were two teams, one was mostly white kids, one was mostly black kids. They made the black kids clean 2 buses! The white kids got to shoot water balloons or something. I would love for some help finding this clip to laugh at.

Ma-ti may have gotten the lamest power but he also got a monkey. Plus they never showed what that ring could do in the bedroom. He was probably picking up nature loving bimbos left and right. Well bimbos or that monkey. I never was quite sure about him

Community is a modern-day Saved by The Bell?!?!

[–]SigmundDali[!] 1 point2 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

That one got me too. But, if you think about it, it does make sense. Saved by the Bell was rather unconventional. Constant breaking of the fourth wall, experimenting with form, Zack Morris "Time Outs"... What Community does amazingly well is mess with traditional expectations of the format. Take SbtB, modernize it, and add in the necessary and proper Millenial spoonful of meta self-awareness, and you've got Community.

Also (in descending order of correlation):

  • Jeff = Zack
  • Ahbed = Screech
  • Britta = Jessie
  • Troy = Slater
  • Annie = Kelly
  • Pierce = Mr. Belding
  • I can't place Shirley with anyone. The only one close is Lisa, and that's only because they occupy the "token black female" role.

I liked it, but for some reason THAT particular show made my feel sick after watching two episodes or more in a row. I could sit and watch TV for ages if it was anything else, but that one made me feel bad. Prolly some sort of background noise or something that just made me uneasy.

I could never understand the obsession with Goldeneye. I was a Sophomore in High School and the craze started when everyone came back from Christmas break and everyone wanted to play Goldeneye but like 4 people had an N64. Meanwhile, they all had a PC and internet but I didn't understand why they wouldn't want to play Quake II.

[–]unique8623 1 point2 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

If you had four PCs in a room together, people would play Quake...screaming at your friend right next to you after getting killed in Goldeneye was a unique experience, though.

[–]Twigkid 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

I agree. A lot of people make that mistake. Being born in the 90s isn't a guarantee of being a 90's kid. Having your childhood in the 90s is what determines it. But where do you guys place the beginning of your childhood? 5? 6? 7? 0-3 is definitely out...

[–]BryanMcgee 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Personally for me I start it when I started school at 5 because I don't remember anything before that and I didn't interact with anyone but my parents before that. For me that's '92, about the time I started watching TV and playing with other kids.
