Rules

  1. No screenshots, or pictures with added or superimposed text. This includes image macros, comics, info-graphics and most diagrams. Text (e.g. a URL) serving to credit the original author is exempt.

  2. No gore or porn. NSFW content must be tagged.

  3. No personal information. This includes anything hosted on Facebook's servers, as they can be traced to the original account holder. Stalking & harassment will not be tolerated.

  4. No solicitation of votes (including "cake day" posts), posts with their sole purpose being to communicate with another redditor, or [FIXED] posts. DAE posts go in /r/DoesAnybodyElse. "Fixed" posts should be added as a comment to the original image.

My roomies are hard core players for the horde. Whenever we all go outside to smoke (no smoking in the house), all they talk about is the raid they are playing in. I have to listen to them blather on about their spells and buffs and shit while I stand there like a clueless idiot.

When I go inside while they are still out there talking they complain that I'm being anti-social and not wanting to hang out. I mean fuck, can we talk about work or what we saw on tv or something?

I have the same problem with one of my friends, he would always try to bring it up around people we didn't know in social situations and they would just look at him like he was speaking another language, it was embarrassing. I was like, "Dude, shut the fuck up! We are at a bar. No one wants to hear about Middle Earth, fucking elitist nerds, and gear." Guess who doesn't talk about it anymore around me.

You'll save much more than that if you get addicted. When I used to play, I had a healthy weight from not having too much extra time and wondering around the house for snacks, I didn't "waste" money buying expensive items for myself, saved on gas, saved on going out. For me it was adding up to thousands by the end of the year. Every time I quit WoW in the past, it cost me a pretty penny. Last time it was around $2k for new backpacking gear and $600 for a new handgun...which I am pretty sure I would not have bought if I was staring at computer screen every waking moment. Oh, just remembered a time before that - almost bought a $40k car and even put a down payment (thankfully terms of it allowed me to backout when I came to my senses). Yes, I have a problem.

Funny story. A couple of years ago just after the height of my wow career me and a friend (who also played wow) attended some rap/rnb party. For some reason I started to talk about wow and some other people joined in. We...the only black people at a hiphop oriented party were sitting in a corner bragging about our wow succes and how much we loved the game. This is still one of the funniest IRL wow memories I have.

"Bubble" is a spell a paladin can cast which gives him a few seconds of invulnerability and "Hearth" was a spell that can be cast once every hour to take you to a safe place which was set before hand. Think of it as the players home town. So paladins, when in trouble used to "bubble" and then "hearth," so the hearth could not be interrupted by other players. Hence the term "bubble hearth."
