I'm pretty sure the true source of the annoyance is the fact that this has probably been posted a dozen times to /r/nfl, and probably a dozen more at /r/pics, /r/sports, etc.

Actually yes, it is expected of everyone who submits a link. It is proper reddiquette to do a url search before submitting a link. I do the same and it only takes about a total of 3-5 seconds.

Please do:

Search for duplicates before posting. That said, sometimes bad timing, a bad title, or just plain bad luck can cause an interesting story to fail to get noticed. Feel free to post something again if you feel that the earlier posting didn't get the attention it deserved and you think you can do better.

That is precisely why people get so annoyed with it. So cool the fuck out and stop being an ass about it.
