  1. No screenshots, or pictures with added or superimposed text. This includes image macros, comics, info-graphics and most diagrams. Text (e.g. a URL) serving to credit the original author is exempt.

  2. No gore or porn. NSFW content must be tagged.

  3. No personal information. This includes anything hosted on Facebook's servers, as they can be traced to the original account holder. Stalking & harassment will not be tolerated.

  4. No solicitation of votes (including "cake day" posts), posts with their sole purpose being to communicate with another redditor, or [FIXED] posts. DAE posts go in /r/DoesAnybodyElse. "Fixed" posts should be added as a comment to the original image.

  5. Submissions must link directly to a specific image file or to an image hosting website with minimal ads. We do not allow blog hosting of images ("blogspam"), but links to albums on image hosting websites are okay. URL shorteners are prohibited.

  6. No animated images. Please submit them to /r/gif, /r/gifs, or /r/reactiongifs instead.

  • If your submission appears to be filtered but definitely meets the above rules, please send us a message with a link to the comments section of your post (not a direct link to the image). Don't delete it as that just makes the filter hate you!

  • If you come across any rule violations, please report the submission or message the mods and one of us will remove it!

Please also try to come up with original post titles. Submissions that use certain clichés/memes will be automatically tagged with a warning.

Not everyone on this site hates them, some of us really like the show. We don't care about and aren't turned off by laugh tracks, so we don't need to complain about that one thing every time a Big Bang Theory post appears.

The only thing I dislike about Big Bang Theory is that every single scene that involves Penny resolves to a "Aw, look at the cute little nerds trying to be like us normal people" scene.

Other than that it's kind of like xkcd in sitcom form.

No. The OP is saying that Seinfeld, the best situational comedy of all time, also had a laugh track. The point is that a laugh track is not a virus for a sitcom -- you can have a sitcom that has a laugh track and is still great.

Still, when it's a live audience there is usually a crew who has big posters saying "laugh", which they raise when the audience is supposed to laugh.

That's at least the impression I've gotten (saw it happen one time on another show).

The reason that reddit hates BBT is the 4 main characters represent 99% of all users on reddit. At that point these users need to hate on the show saying that it does not accurately represent members of the nerd/geek sub-culture of North America, when in reality they don't like it because they see themselves perfectly reflected in the show.

I've always felt like the pop-culture references more pander to the people who are least likely to get them actually, so I agree that whenever they do that I just groan instead of laugh. However, I enjoy the interactions between the different characters, even if they aren't terribly fleshed out.

For some things, you don't need to repeatedly expose yourself to realize that it's not your thing. I don't like HIMYM or BBT because I don't find any of the jokes any funny. I've watched bits of the shows, I've seen clips that people rave about and I haven't laughed once at any of it. I'm guessing that a lot of people haven't watched the Jersey Shore thoroughly but know that it's not something that interests them.
