Taken from "Storm"

Thank you for posting this. It's been almost a month since I'd seen it last, and I have to admit it's one of my favorite videos ever.

I never understood the last line:

We'd as well be 10 minutes back in time for all the chance you'll change your mind.

She's still going to hold fast to her beliefs with no regard for his arguments or evidence, so he pretty much just wasted 10 minutes.

Hmm... So how does amend any offenses he's made?

[–]iLike_Kittehs 4 points5 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

It's basically an "If it's any consolation, you never cared about what I just said anyhow"

I'm pretty sure it's another Shakespeare reference and calls on that little joke (Ending of Midsummer Night's Dream, if I'm right) for its meaning. If we shadows have offended, Think but this, and all is mended, That you have but slumber'd here While these visions did appear. And this weak and idle theme, No more yielding but a dream.

Except for the misquotation. "Has turned out to be... not magic". Also, this one is far better.

At least until the monsters started getting 'real.' That kinda ruined it for me...

You have to admit, zombie island WAS fucking groundbreaking.

Zombie Island was fucking astounding as a kid. I still have the VHS, actually. I don't have a player though. :(

[–]gandrews426 1 point2 points ago

Zombie Island actually scared me as a kid. It was insane!

But fiction seen in every other ghost cartoons. Scooby Doo was the only one with an inquiring bent and no deux ex machina.

To be fair though, the original Scooby Doo didn't have real ghost, the spinoffs did.

There always were real ones, they just never turned out to be the one that was actually doing anything. Quite a few early episodes had Shaggy and Scooby running in to actual magic stuff while goofing off/looking, but neither of them noticing. Like one where Shaggy reads from a spellbook and starts looking all demonic and laughing about how silly it was, then reading another passage and turning back before Scooby saw.

I don't know who this guy is, but he kind of looks like Lindsay Lohan with a beard. Doesn't he?

[–]Madness_As_Muse 3 points4 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

I can see that. He's a pretty good entertainer though. He does beat poetry and sings skeptical or otherwise satirical show tunes. Dawkins endorses him, that how I first found him.

I stared at this picture for about 10 seconds thinking it was a photoshop, expecting the text to be related to Lohan with a beard.

I think he got some PR people to work on social media, so get ready to keep running into this shit. This is poignant, but hardly as profound or original as it was trying to be.

I have no idea who he is either, but this is the second or third submission with him in it this week.

[–]contextual_entity 4 points5 points ago*

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

I have no idea who he is either, but this is the second or third submission with him in it this week.

He's an Australian atheist comedian/musician. His other material included the enviroment, his family, boobs and the music industry. He's in the middle of a US tour and making headlines for being blatently atheist in Texas or something.

I like him, he's not uproariously funny, but he's consistantly entertaining and memorable.

Edit: Spelling fail.

[–]nonsensepoem 1 point2 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

To be fair, he did reinvent himself shortly after being "discovered" by a British talent scout when he won a national contest. That process included frying his hair and abusing eyeliner. Without all of that stuff, he looks like your garden variety curly-headed ginger**.

** I can say "ginger," as I'm part ginger myself. ;)

I wish I could say that word. I'll just have to stick with Ginga, I guess. Thing is, I prefer red hair!

Fucking love this guy. His more recent song about God curing his friend Sam's mom is spot on! It can be found on his recent TV special, "Tim Minchin vs The Syndey Symphony Orchestra"

I love that one! It was on youtube for a while, but got pulled for being too awesome for the internets. Or maybe they had a legit reason...

Not to piss anyone off but I truly thought this was a photoshopped picture of Lindsay Lohan.

I love this dude. If you can believe it, my 5th grade music teacher introduced me to his music. She showed us the song F Sharp, for obvious reasons. I looked him up when I got home, and found Ten Foot Cock and A Few Hundred Virgins. I was in love.

[–]Spudface 0 points1 point ago

I love ten foot cock and a few hundred virgins. I went on holiday with the family not long ago and I played that song so much even my mum was singing along by the end of the week.

I want to marry this dude. Even though I'm opposed to marriage and he has a wife. Oh, and we haven't actually met. Minor details, really.

[–]botsford01 1 point2 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

That's what really frustrated me about the TV Movies they made. I guess the writers felt they had to up the stakes by making the monsters "Real" (Zombie Island, the one with the Aliens) but I always felt betrayed.

Never fear Scoob, there's always a rational explanation.

[–]Qwuffl 1 point2 points ago

I never liked Hanna Barbara animation.

It bugged me that all the villains were always looking for power (money, control) and never for vengeance. it is the same for Disney villains.

[–]Rook0x51 1 point2 points ago

Because people looking for vengeance are always the good guys! (according to hollywood)

[–]nutellaandcigarettes 1 point2 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

I love the animation (so well done! i even posted it, with no upvotes, a little while ago), but I feel like it's not as effective as seeing him perform it. I think Tim (like some stand-up comedians) is funniest when you watch him perform it.

[–]ZeroNihilist 1 point2 points ago

This is the same reason you should watch Mythbusters. Their experiments may not be rigorous, but they promote the idea that you should test everything. Also Kari.

one of his most majestic photographs.

and from what i've seen of him, it must be difficult to actually get a majestic photo.

regardless, a genius

I have no idea what this guy would look like without makeup and crazy hair. None.

[–]bittlelum 0 points1 point ago

You can see video of him looking "normal" on the documentary Rock And Roll Nerd (you can probably find some clips on YouTube).

It's kind of surreal.

Does the idea that an afternoon on wiki-fuckin-pedia might enlighten you frighten you.

I definitely watched Storm... FAR too many times. Big fan on a lot of Minchin's stuff, it's my kind of humor.

I'm all for not beating your wife with a big bag of comedy oranges.

If he was a flamboyant transsexual, cross-dressing male who was out and gay and that was his style would you find that more respectable or less?

Take for example, ZJemptv on youtube (or whatever he goes by now)... listening past his monotonous droning commentary he makes good sense, but would you discount his points because he dresses in women's clothing and makeup?

But since Tim M hasn't crossed that threshold it's just not acceptable right?

Every time I hear "telly" it makes me want to kill somebody, like literally kill them, stab them in the eye, skin them, pour gasoline and light them on fire.
