Rules

  1. No screenshots, or pictures with added or superimposed text. This includes image macros, comics, info-graphics and most diagrams. Text (e.g. a URL) serving to credit the original author is exempt.

  2. No gore or porn. NSFW content must be tagged.

  3. No personal information. This includes anything hosted on Facebook's servers, as they can be traced to the original account holder. Stalking & harassment will not be tolerated.

  4. No solicitation of votes (including "cake day" posts), posts with their sole purpose being to communicate with another redditor, or [FIXED] posts. DAE posts go in /r/DoesAnybodyElse. "Fixed" posts should be added as a comment to the original image.

  5. Submissions must link directly to a specific image file or to an image hosting website with minimal ads. We do not allow blog hosting of images ("blogspam"), but links to albums on image hosting websites are okay. URL shorteners are prohibited.

You are probably american and start with 2nd floor, but not matter, the people on the 3rd (4th if american) also don't have a pool! I would surely ask for a relocation or a refund if checked in condo without a pool...

Why can't the ground floor be the first floor? It's usually the first floor you set foot on when you enter a building so why not?

I'm not telling anyone what to do though. If you want your second floor to be called the first floor feel free. :P

I lived near there, true story. On the left is part of a favela called Paraisopolis, and on the right is Morumbi, one of the richest parts of the city of Sao Paulo. Paraisopolis is the biggest favela in Sao Paulo, i lived in the second biggest (Jardim Angela) for 6 months. Crazy stuff

I was on a service mission in Sao Paulo helping people and teaching. I never lived in this specific favela, but i passed by there frequently. On one side of the main road is these huge apartment complexes, the richest of the rich. Million dollar mansions, the whole nine yards. On the other side, down the hill towards the sewage river, is this favela, containnig upwards of a million people. Its crazy

Hi. I'm a Brazilian anthropologist and maybe you guy are interest in these information. This is the biggest favela in São Paulo, and yet is the favela with the lowest rate of unemployment. Most of the people who live there (left in the pic) work for those in the right side of the pic. Once, they built stares that connected the two areas (better access for the workers), but that was a HUGE PROBLEM for the rich people because they felt too exposed! The media (majority being part of a conservative party) didn't give much thought about the ABSURD that was actually happening..... The stares are closed (as far as I know).

I lived in Brazil in a place like that. The top two floors of an apartment building plus the roof was mine.... had a pool and grass on the roof.

But if you looked over top of the side there was this mid-sized favela one building over.

I was in Mexico City on a commercial shoot where this was exactly the case. We were filming in a yet-to-be-finished condo/golf course that over looked the slums. You could literally tee-off in the wrong direction and the ball would land in a windowless window. It was scary.

I stayed at the Shangri-La in Cebu in the Philippines a few years ago and it was like that.... Such a weird setting and made me feel pretty bad. There was heaps of security at the hotel to stop them from coming in too
