Well, I do all those things too. I actually work with kids for a living and so I pretty much act like a 10 year old all day. I still feel that when I'm on here it is sometimes like I am talking to kids in high school who are smoking for the first time though.

I was thinking... sometimes I wish there was a /r/trees without minors. I don't like the idea of underage kids smoking; it's one of the only things that science has shown Marijuana can hurt (mental growth).

I started smoking late 20s with a job, money, etc. I admit if I had smoked in my teens, I don't know if I would be in the same success now.
It's great but we do have to ensure that there is no mental harm. I wish they would legalize the damn thing so we can actually start studying these kind of things.

I smoked in high school and then stopped because of bad highs I was getting. Didn't smoke all throughout college and mostly through my first job. I started smoking about 2 years ago and enjoy it because I can. I pay all my bills before even thinking about picking up more.
I understand HS and College is a time to let yourself go and experiment with new things, but just remember to stay on track with your responsibilities.

I started smoking when i went to college. I'm in my late 20s now cause i started college pretty late (after finishing school and working for 4 years as a software developer). I never turned down a joint when one got passed around by my friends. But in college i started buying weed and beeing the good guy greg to all my friends who shared their weed with me back in the days.
And here i am now. High as a kite. Studying my favorite profession while part time working in my favorite profession.

High school kid here.
I smoke, but only because I enjoy it. I maintain a pretty stead 3.8ish GPA (fuck you Calculus), and I only smoke on the weekends. I have friends that do it almost everyday, even during school. I've done it before during school, and I won't lie, it wasn't really all that fun. It was fun during the high, but after I got out of my class I realized I hadn't learned shit. Not a good feeling.
I feel like high school is one of our last perfect times. I don't have bills, I don't have to work a 9 - 5 job, and I don't have to study (as much as I hear undergrad / grads do, at least). It's quite idyllic. It's a great way to make new friends, too! And don't you doubt that some of my best work has come from writing papers while high, and I've relieved the pre-finals week stress by smoking too.
I agree with you. As long as it's done responsibly, I don't see the harm in it.

I've been smoking since my mid-teens (mid-twenties now). I have a pretty awesome job, some mula and am in an awesome relationship. I think there's nothing wrong with smoking trees at an early age, as long as you can understand moderation and still focus on life.

I'm in the same situation. I started smoking in my mid-teens, am 26 now, and have a high-paying job and am engaged. I think trees helped me moderate my emotions and keep an open mind.
Sometimes I look back on 10th-11th grade now and wonder if I should have focused a little less on getting high and laid, but as you say, it's all about balance and moderation.

Agreed. I smoked a huge joint each morning before class and at lunch throughout my junior and senior years and I graduated with a 3.7 GPA. I'm now in college and well on my way to a degree. While I concur with the idea that some of us who started smoking in high school became 'burnouts", I'm happy to report that not everyone did.

Yeah I always set boundaries and guild lines for myself (still do today) about when I can smoke. I never went to class high, and I only let myself smoke if I had done my homework/done something productive that day.
It was (and still is) a good motivator to get shit done.

I completely agree and when I mention it to any "Ents" I get down voted to oblivion for being annoyed with how much people talk about this or how high they are. I guess being an adult makes it hard for me to understand this whole concept. I smoke weed. Not a huge deal. Pretty much most people smoke weed. Maybe living in California has made it less of a big deal then say living somewhere that it's not decriminalized and extremely common.

Thank you for saying this. As a smoker I did not even touch the stuff until I was 24. My parents smoked my entire life, but they were smart enough to educate me on how dangerous it is to smoke weed to a developing mind. I mean, there is a reason the legal drinking age is 21 and that's because the mind develops until that point. I see all these kids cry about "my stash got taken" etc etc and I feel no remorse, because as a parent I would do the same thing and I'm and ent.
That an teens think they are immortal, they'll do things like smoke in cars, parks and other public places thinking they won't get caught. But when they do, they put a ton of strain on their parents both mentally and financially.

I really have not noticed one way or the other. I can just speak for myself, but there are specific letters and sounds of letters that cause me to stutter. Example, I know words that begin with E cause me to stutter. So what I do is find a similar word in meaning and use it instead of the original word.
Example - 2+2=3. You read that as two plus two equals three. How I would say that is the sum of two plus two is 3 and no one would notice.
So weed doesn't have any effect other than it makes me feel better :)

Well obviously they're allowed on the lawn then.. but stay off the flowerbeds! My best dealers and growers have all been older folks, but I've got nothing against the youngsters, as long as they're not being complete idiots. Still don't think it's a good thing for anyone under 18, but still better than abusing alcohol or anything else at that age.
Over the years I've been handed down generation to generation as a loyal and frequent customer. My dealer decides to stop or moves away and refers me to someone he knows can help me out and the cycle continues. It's actually pretty interesting from a sociological perspective.
Also, agreed. As a lover of hardscaping and landscape design, the flower beds are off limits. Nothing gets me more then seeing a fresh footprint in a flowerbed next to a sidewalk...oh my god, I'm my father!!

I'm 29, so I'm right on the cusp. I will say that there's a major difference between 22 and 29, though. I can only imagine the gap from 29-39 is similar. All my friends in their 30s seem to have more stuff figured out. I am married with a mortgage and a job though, so that's pretty ballin'. Oh, and did I mention that I have three small dogs and a rabbit?

Yes, there is a big difference between 22 and 29--as is discussed in this thread elsewhere, it's generally considered that people aren't really adults today until 25, and most people are definitely still children in the their early 20's. From 30+, of course there should be progress and evolution and learning but not nearly as much change as the jump from teen and early 20's to 30 +. [36]

I'm 22, have a nice full time job, a house and an okay life.
But I will admit a long time ago I was like these kids too. I personally think it's better to be the better person with these kid's, show them that ent's can be sensible adults.
But that doesn't mean smoking green under age of say... 18 should be encouraged either, it's a hard choice to either condemn or help these younger ent's.
