Traditional dueling pistols only have one shot. These guys were using six-shot (probably revolvers), which is highly unlikely.

They dispute, drain and victimize everyone not directly associated with the problem. Then when shit hits the fan and they've reached a peak in disputes, they drop their "guns" and scuffle it out - not realizing how their recklessness has affected the population.

pistols back then were extremely innacurate, so the far majority of duels just ended with both sides missing on their first shot and then stopping afterwards.

This is actually how Arron Burr died. Duels very rarely ended in death back then because the guns were so inaccurate, it was more of a formality about honor. When Alexander Hamilton dueled with Burr he had no intention of killing him and actually aimed away. But because his pistol sucked he accidentally hit him.
