Looking for an image subreddit with minimal rules? Check out /r/images

A place to share interesting photographs and pictures. Feel free to post your own, but please read the rules first (see below), and note that we are not a catch-all for general images (of screenshots, comics, etc.)

Spoiler code

Please mark spoilers like this:
[text here](/spoiler)

Hover over to read.

Rules

  1. No screenshots, or pictures with added or superimposed text. This includes image macros, comics, info-graphics and most diagrams. Text (e.g. a URL) serving to credit the original author is exempt.

  2. No gore or porn. NSFW content must be tagged.

  3. No personal information. This includes anything hosted on Facebook's servers, as they can be traced to the original account holder. Stalking & harassment will not be tolerated.

  4. No solicitation of votes (including "cake day" posts), posts with their sole purpose being to communicate with another redditor, or [FIXED] posts. DAE posts go in /r/DoesAnybodyElse. "Fixed" posts should be added as a comment to the original image.

  5. Submissions must link directly to a specific image file or to an image hosting website with minimal ads. We do not allow blog hosting of images ("blogspam"), but links to albums on image hosting websites are okay. URL shorteners are prohibited.

  • If your submission appears to be filtered but definitely meets the above rules, please send us a message with a link to the comments section of your post (not a direct link to the image). Don't delete it as that just makes the filter hate you!

  • If you come across any rule violations, please report the submission or message the mods and one of us will remove it!

Please also try to come up with original post titles. Submissions that use certain clichés/memes will be automatically tagged with a warning.

It is always frightening when Charlie starts making sense.

[–]utilitybelt 16 points17 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

This most recent episode he was on a roll - making sense left and right. It's like they got tired of Charlie being full retard and dialed it down a little.

Like using rocks in a urinal because he couldn't find ice makes sense.

Wellll...okay, maybe not the whole time. But he was being shockingly sensible about the crucifix stuff, and he caught on that Frank and Dennis were up to something a lot faster than you would have thought.

You have a good point there.

Plus, he showed his humanitarian side by not wanting to chuck that dead dog in the alley in a dumpster and instead give it a proper burial.

Charlie has always been brilliant, he's just an idiot savant. The problem is, for every flash of his brilliance, you get an example of why he's an idiot savant, and not a genius.

I read this in an increasingly high pitch voice... I watch too much of always sunny...

There's no such thing as too much of that show.

[–]rubixlube 6 points7 points ago

That's probably because that's exactly how the quote was said in the show.

When you do, aim for Minot, ND. We have an insanely low unemployment rate. Almost every business in town is hiring. By that, I mean that businesses that aren't hiring stick out as strange. I moved here from Sacramento, CA, found a job almost immediately. If anyone needs specifics, PM me.

[–]seanbyram 4 points5 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Good man and/or woman. We need people over here, especially in the Deli at Walmart. I'm working 8am-10pm. I think aside from the manager, I'm the only full-time associate here. They hand out overtime like CANDY.

[–]sarcastic_smartass 1 point2 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

That's the wrong kind of job. No one wants overtime. What people mean is they can't find a position requiring 30 hours / week with a good salary over, full benefits and lots of paid vacation.

[–]Eldias 7 points8 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Anyone expecting benefits without working full time (40 hrs/week) is an overly optimistic retard.

They are the 99%?

[–]sarcastic_smartass 2 points3 points ago

That's because we all have our sights set too low! There is no reason everyone shouldn't have full salaried 30 hour / week jobs with benefits!

[–]Acheron13 2 points3 points ago

woah woah woah, slow that crazy train down there. 30 hours/week for benefits? What is this, slavery? I don't know what kind of heartless human being you must be to ask people to work a job over 20 hr/wk for benefits and vacation.

[–]SirRealle 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

If overtime is paying time-and-a-half, and is considered anything over 30 hours (to go along with my paid vacation and outstanding salary), then I guess I could spare a few hours here and there. As long as it doesn't cut into my personal project time. I'm hoping to own my own business soon, after all.

[–]sarcastic_smartass 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Hm, trying to become part of the 1% are we?

[–]SirRealle 0 points1 point ago

As long as I don't have to work to get there...

[–]sarcastic_smartass 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

That's good because as I have learned from reading Reddit all the time, hard work does not get anyone into the 1%. You need to do as little as possible and just hope you get picked to be one of the lucky ones.

[–]seanbyram 0 points1 point ago

[–]s73v3r 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

You have a low unemployment rate because not many people want to live in the middle of nowhere. Not to mention North Dakota (and South Dakota, where I'm from) get very cold in the winter.

[–]seanbyram 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Also, the flooding has driven people out but the oil companies have pumped up the business in the area. Pay is high, most necessities are cheap, rent is high, houses are cheap. All of that is compared to Sacramento, at least. It's a very interesting area.

I've never heard anyone say North Dakota is on the east coast. As I said, I'm from Cali originally.

[–]Spysix -3 points-2 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

I never implied ND was on the east coast. I live on the east coast. And usually all the good stuff is on the other side.

[–]seanbyram 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

You didn't say it, but I think you implied it. Anyways, it's not hard to get places if you're dedicated. When me and my friends save up enough for a down payment on a house, I might open up housing offers for redditors (assuming they agree, of course).

[–]Spysix -4 points-3 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Like I said, I never implied ND is in the east coast. I did assume it was on the west coast and after checking my globe sitting next to me I now know its sitting on the tippy top middle of america. So theres that.

Heres what I said

Christ thats too far away from me, I hate the east coast,

I ment to imply my east coast, where I live, which I hate, hence, "I hate the east coast." I figured there would be no confusion if everyone had a good idea where all the states are and ND being not one of them...that is on the east coast.

Anyway I hope that cleared that up. And about the job thing, it is somewhat difficult here and I've been trying to get a job as a assistant manager (only opener in my local area) at a book store while I'm working as an "intern" for the state for free because they can't afford it but hey at least I'm getting that "Experience" that is demanded from other jobs that pay.

I'm pretty much just mission critical IT. I sit here until something goes wrong. Unless one of the guys in Japan decides to unplug something, it's unlikely my job will entail anything more than sitting here for the next 4 hours since I don't think many other people are at work. Mario got a job!

[–]Incoherentrant 2 points3 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Here is a trick a new friend and I were discussing. So he has a Masters, and is a Mechanical Engineer. Of course he is applying to bombass jobs (Microsoft, Boeing, etc.), but interviews for real jobs take time. It's not like Toys R Us where they are like "You don't have any sex offenses right? Okay hired!"

So we were talking, and realized, people lie on their resumes all the time. Well if you need a job, and don't want to be discriminated because they fear you jumping ship when a real job comes along (WHICH IS TOTALLY TRUE), just omit the degrees/fancy stuff.

What are they going to do, fucking call up all the universities "Hey, HEY! Does this guy have a Masters he ain't telling us?"

FUCKNO

Plus any good jobs you have, you can just down play. He had a pretty bitchn' job before moving, and he was able to simplify it to a "Analyst".

Pretty clever to get a job quickly if you just need something...

[–]buzziebee 2 points3 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Up vote for Mechanical Engineering MEng. I have another 2 years yet but hoping to get one of those 'bombass jobs' at the end.

[–]pime 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Stick it out. It's worth it.

[–]s73v3r 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

And now he's stuck working at Toys R Us. When's he gonna have time to go on interviews for these bombass jobs?

[–]Incoherentrant -1 points0 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

If you have an interview, you just go to the interview? Fuck that job? It's lame? Exactly why they don't want to hire people with Master Degrees, because those people will jump ship first chance when a real job calls.

[–]s73v3r 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

And if the interview goes poorly? Now you don't have any job, and a history of leaving jobs after a short time. Not to mention that if you need UI again, now you are just going to make a percentage of the shit paying job as opposed to what you were making before.

[–]Incoherentrant -1 points0 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

If it goes poorly you merely get another job. You don't have to include every job on your resume...and it isn't like they are going to call around and verify if you were or were not an employee of a company...

"Hmm, this guy is applying for a job here at Boeing..but I have an inkling he worked at Office Depot for 2 weeks and quit without notice, let me call Office Depot up and verify my suspicions!"

Simply don't use that company as a reference...and don't put them on your resume at all.

If they ask what you were doing for whatever time period you "didn't have a job", simply blame the job market, as higher paying jobs are fewer and farther in between and it's reasonable for someone with a Masters Degree to take several months to get hired.

Also you can just say you took a vacation, which isn't so unbelievable especially if you had a really good job you quit which will be able to provide good references for you.

[–]wtf-banelings 1 point2 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Some jobs have more rigorous background checks than you are giving them credit.

[–]s73v3r 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

and it isn't like they are going to call around and verify if you were or were not an employee of a company...

No, but it is like many of them will actually order a background check, which will reveal that you were working at Office Depot and quit without notice.

[–]Incoherentrant -1 points0 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

I have never seen a background check reveal either you were actually hired and employed by the company, or that you left the company.

[–]Incoherentrant -1 points0 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Also, if for example you get a real interview but are scheduled to work that night...Make up an excuse of why you won't be coming in and don't quit necessarily. I have worked at crap jobs before (Actually used to work at Toys R Us in High School) and people would miss multiple days without notice and still have a job for some reason.

Kind of pissed me off actually..but if they were skipping work to attend a nice job interview I would understand (I'd do the same thing!) but instead they skipped work to party/do drugs..not cool...

Maybe once reddit finishes destroying all of the big corporations, there will be lots of corporate jobs for everyone!

[–]s73v3r 1 point2 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

TIL asking corporations to actually play by the rules, and not do whatever the fuck they please is "destroying" them.

[–]hitlerwasright -1 points0 points ago*

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

What rules?

You guys have known the stock market was corrupt since the 1920s. But you keep putting your money there. Only morons buy stocks, and they deserve to lose every penny. It's a rigged game and you knew it before you got in.

As for the banks and forclosures.... DON'T FUCKING BUY THINGS YOU CAN'T AFFORD!!!!

Also, nobody owes you a job. Corporations aren't your babysitters. It's a bunch of people who got together and built something cool without your help... and if you did help, you were compensated. So stop whining.

2 things I can't stand: Jealousy and a Victim Mentality.

There's no shortage of problems in the world. If you can manage to solve JUST ONE, people will give you millions.

[–]s73v3r 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Again, you're just spouting off bullshit you don't know shit about. You're just telling people "Forget about it, just bend over and take it." You're an awful person for that.

If you can manage to solve JUST ONE, people will give you millions.

WRONG.

[–]hitlerwasright -1 points0 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Forget about it, just bend over and take it

I'm not advocating that at all. What I'm saying is - instead of hating other people for their success - maybe you should be happy for them and make friends with them so that they can help you become successful.

Jealousy is like a brain disease that pushes away success and attracts failure. It's like trying to drink poison until your enemy dies.

I know what I'm talking about here. I grew up poor, and now I'm rich.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LTQqFGLDdJ0

I'm not saying that rich people are better than poor people. But I am saying that most poor people are poor because they aren't good enough to be rich. It's sad but true.

[–]s73v3r 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

I'm not advocating that at all.

Yes, you are.

instead of hating other people for their success

We're not hating them for their success, despite what you would desperately like to believe. We're pointing out the injustice of a broken system that has allowed those able to rig it to prosper at the expense of the rest of the population. We're pointing out a system that does nothing but enrich the top 1% while punishing the rest of us.

I'm not saying that rich people are better than poor people. But I am saying that most poor people are poor because they aren't good enough to be rich. It's sad but true.

No, you're saying you're an asshole with that statement.

[–]hitlerwasright -1 points0 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

We're not hating them for their success, despite what you would desperately like to believe.

Bullshit.

  • You're the ones who go around stigmatizing people who enjoy sparkly vampire movies... just because you want the movies to stop making money.

  • You're the same ones who hate on Snookie because she got rich without asking your permission or meeting your "standard of talent".

  • You're the guys who post up pictures of tanned, well-dressed, muscular guys with hot girls and nice cars... and label them "douchebags".

  • You're the ones who complain that rich people are greedy and have too much money.

And now you want to tell me you're not jealous?

those able to rig it to prosper at the expense of the rest of the population.

The poorest americans today still have a better life than the average upper-middle-class american 70 years ago.

If we both have a $10 ball of yarn, I control 50% of the wealth. (10 + 10) But if I turn my ball into a $90 sweater, then I sudenly own 90% of the total wealth. (90 + 10 )

Did I deprive you of anything in my quest to gain wealth? No. I got wealthy because my enginuity and my efforts made the world better.

Shut down Dell, Microsoft, GE, Oracle, Kraft, Levis, Exxon, McDonalds, Whirlpool, Siemens, Phiser, Wal-Mart... wipe all of these companies off the face of the earth and tell me how much easier your life is. You would STARVE TO DEATH in a world that your great gradparents called home.

And let's suppse that I'm wrong, and you're just fine without all of the worldly comforts that were created by technology and the free market economy... then don't buy things from those companies. Nobody is putting a gun to your head.

But don't tell other people how much money they should be allowed to make, or what they should spend that money on. It's none of your business.

[–]s73v3r 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Bullshit.

Yes, you are full of bullshit. Especially those "points" you brought up, which are not relevant at all, and are you attempting to project your feelings onto something you don't like.

The poorest americans today still have a better life than the average upper-middle-class american 70 years ago.

Oh, so because they're not dying in a field somewhere, they should be happy? Again, you are entirely off base with everything you have said. Your yarn analogy is also incredibly retarded, as it fails to take into account that you didn't make the sweater, you got the others to make the sweater for you. Then, instead of sharing the profits from it with everyone who made it possible, you kept them for yourself.

And nobody is saying to "shut down" those companies you listed. Nobody. They are being told to play by the rules, and play fairly. If that's your definition of being told to "shut down", then you are a sad, pathetic person.

That right there is the mail. Now let's talk about the mail. Can we talk about the mail, please, Mac? I've been dying to talk about the mail with you all day, OK? "Pepe Silvia," this name keeps coming up over and over again. Every day Pepe's mail is getting sent back to me. Pepe Silvia! Pepe Silvia! I look in the mail, and this whole box is Pepe Silvia! So I say to myself, "I gotta find this guy! I gotta go up to his office and put his mail in the guy's goddamn hands! Otherwise, he's never going to get it and he's going to keep coming back down here." So I go up to Pepe's office and what do I find out, Mac? What do I find out?! There is no Pepe Silvia. The man does not exist, okay? So I decide, "Oh shit, buddy, I gotta dig a little deeper." There's no Pepe Silvia? You gotta be kidding me! I got boxes full of Pepe! All right. So I start marchin' my way down to Carol in HR and I knock on her door and I say, "Carol! Carol! I gotta talk to you about Pepe." And when I open the door what do I find? There's not a single goddamn desk in that office! There...is...no...Carol in HR. Mac, half the employees in this building have been made up. This office is a goddamn ghost town.

In my opinion if you're going to take out loans and be in debt for a college degree, why waste it on a useless degree. Its supply and demand, there's a huge supply of liberal arts degrees and very little demand. This is because those degrees are more focused on knowledge than skillset. This is why engineering and science-based degrees can virtually guarantee a good job right out of school.
